Solitarius
The Last Roman Centurion
The sun was casting an orange glow over the grassy hilltop as Solitarius, the Roman Centurion, walked slowly over it. At the top he came to a sudden halt. Before him stretched an endless city, but where before him had once stood a grand temple and rows of houses and homes, there was now a pile of rubble. Solitarius collapsed to his knees, looking out over the devastation before him.
That temple, and the city around it, had been his home. He had lived there for most of his life. And now it was gone. Nothing but a pile of crumbled bricks and wood.
After he had come to terms with what he was seeing, he climbed down the hill to have a closer look. After searching for a while, he came across a medal. He had seen one like it before. It was from a German tribesman.
So the Germanic tribes did this. He thought to himself.
Living in the temple had been the last emperor of the Roman Empire, a man named Romulus Augustulus. But there was no way he could have survived the destruction that stood before Solitarius.
After searching the rubble for any signs of survivors, Solitarius decided to collect any food he could find and leave his home. After finding a chest full of bread, steaks and water, he headed off into the wilderness in the hope of starting a new life there.
The Dark Ages had begun,
He was the last Roman alive,
And it was going to stay that way.
