After some kind of reaction to something in swamps, his eyes bleed endlessly, so he wears a mask to hide the hideous scene that is his eyes bleeding, but doesn't care about the blood on his body. When he contracted what may be a type of illness that can't be spread, he left his job protecting the swamps of South America to find a job, and found one where all he needs to do is scare people of all ages by coming out of their closet(s), waking them up softly then taking off his mask! He gets paid a good amount, enough to work there for a long time.
