He doesn't know who he is or who he used to be. All he knows is one thing, revenge. Revenge on the people that tortured and killed him. On the people that fashioned his mask and removed the flesh and bone beneath it. Before his passing Death saw all the rage, all the hatred that he felt towards his captors, and saw a use for it. So before Death took him on he offered a proposal. If he agreed to be Death's hand and take those who deserve it to the depths to hell, he would be granted eternal life and a chance to satisfy his revenge. He agreed and after Death released him he slaughtered all bar 5 of his captors. These men he let escape, for he enjoys the hunt and the terror that he knows they will endure while they run. As time passed what was left of his flesh rotted until all that was left was his bleached white skeleton and Death himself took the lives of his victims. But he does not complain because he knows that they died in terror. Now Death uses him as punishment for the worst of the sinners. All the knowledge about Death's hand comes from only one place a, rare witness to his work. It is said that he is unlike anything else on this planet. He is not cold like death, he is a presence. A presence that will turn the strongest mind insane. Once he has caught his victim and tied them to a tree he will take 3 things from the pouch that he carries; a mask that is the opposite of his own, a lump of coal and a light. He will then place the mask on his victim and light the coal, and place it in the eye of the mask. When he has had his fun he will then drag his victim to hell where they will burn eternally.
