This is my entry for the "Seven Seas Skin Contest" on PMC. And even though I voted for "Pulp Heroes", this particular category does resonate with me as a person. For those of you who don't know, I am an enlisted member of the United States Navy, and I want to express for the branch I serve by participating in this contest. This skin is to resemble the Dress White Uniform of a Commissioned Officer in the United States Navy, and I did my best to keep the skin as authentic as possible while also keeping to the Minecraft charm.
The first part is the arm, and while there isn't anything in particular that is special, on the shoulders of the arm are "Shoulder Boards." In a uniform, the shoulder boards on a commissioned officer's uniform are indicative of their rank through the number and size of gold stripes which are on the board. And in the case of Admiral's number of stars.
The next part I want to focus on is the Torso. Where we see two sets of colored blocks on the chest. The ones on the left side are Military Ribbons, which are given to members as a token of their service. And to serve a similar purpose on the right side, are medals, which usually accompany the ribbons in a Dinner, or highly formal setting. The final part of the torso, which also leads to the arm, is a robe which leads from the bottom of the medals to the shoulder board on the right side. This is known as an "aiguillette", which is a decorative cord. In the US navy, there are many aiguillette's in different colors which indicate different purposes. The gold aiguillette seen on an Officer is usually indicative of a very formal event, such as an Admiral meeting the President of the United States in a formal setting.
The final part is the head, to which I direct the attention to the hat the skin is wearing. This is known as a combination cover.
I hope you all enjoy the skin and can understand why it means a lot to me.
