Zartan never knew his parents. They had dissipated to some unknown territory before he was old enough to remember them. His whole life has been dedicated to finding his twin brother, Tarzan. He was snatched away from their home by a gorilla some years ago, and Zartan has spent all his time since searching these dense woods to find where he was taken: to no avail.

Tarzan was taken to a jungle, miles beyond the borders of Zartan's searching. He never gave up his search though, didn't waste time putting on clothes in the morning, just used some old rag that had been left behind at their forest hut when Tarzan was taken. It was covered in various bugs, forest debris and a thick smog of dust, but Zartan never took it off, it was his homage to his brother, and the scent of the material brought happy memories of a time long past.

Zartan left the safety of the hut a few months ago, deciding that in order to find his brother, he had to search beyond the confines of the community. He now set up rough shelters every few days or so. The standard form of which was two sizeable rocks pushed about a foot's width from eachother, covered in mossy substances that were left over from the previous day's fire. He always made a slight bed of pines to lie on, as he remembers Tarzan teaching him when they were young.

All alone, Zartan uses the resources of the wood to accompany him on what would otherwise be a lonely, self-depricating journey. He had built a stable relationship with the birds - their flight and view over all the happenings of the wood were a key asset as to where he would search. The bears helped him scout for any suspicious tracks that could lead to a breakthrough; however, as kind as this was, nothing good had come of it yet. The bugs were his sustenence - of course, the meat of the deer was a much more fulfilling meal but he just couldn't bring himself to killing any. Instead, he lived on the foliage, maggots, crickets, cockroaches and any other critters under the rocks and logs of the forest's ferny floor.

It's days like these Zartan misses his brother most. Days where it pours with rain and his shelter is flooded with rainwater. As it drips across the makeshift roof and slides down onto his body, he sings. He signs joyous songs of his past; hopeful songs of his future - he never likes to focus on the dire state of his present.
