Roma Victor! - Ancient Rome in Minecraft!

Note: Custom music can be found separately HERE! Soundtracks from Gladiator, Rome Total War, and more! You can also find alternate Armor and Theme packs to further customize your experience!

- To download, click the download link. It will take you to an ad site, in which you have to wait 5 seconds before clicking "skip" in the upper right. You can then find the download link in the middle of the page! Enjoy!

SUMMARY:This texture pack replaces almost every texture with an Ancient Roman theme. All blocks were inspired by real life examples of Ancient Roman art and architecture! Most famously, the armor has been replaced by ancient Roman armor examples.

In Minecraft 1.7, I decided to make this the Core texture pack of all my Romecraft texture themes. Using this core pack, you can attach different armor, theme, and item packs to essentially make your own, personalized Romecraft! Germania is the default theme, but soon you will be able to have Aegyptvs and Roma themes too!

The aim of this texture pack is to present an Ancient Roman approach to the world of Minecraft. Using the mechanics already introduced through the vanilla game, I designed this pack to merely change the environment and building materials to reflect an Ancient setting. Typically, themed packs seem to stray too far from the original game, to the point where most textures look little like the original game. I try to stay closer to the theme of the game, for ease of use in both creative and survival settings. I did change some things that did not match the Roman theme, such as music discs and other Non-roman items. Wool is also a whole lot different, as it can be used to make decorative structures based on historical Roman examples!

To optimize the level of Roman historical detail, I made this texture pack a Hybrid between 16x16 and 32x32, with 16x16 the main focus as to make it fit the original theme of the game most adequately! Enjoy!

Roma Victor!

Also check out my other texture packs, such as:

Romecraft: ROMA
Romecraft: AEGYPTVS

To install this Resource Pack, you must first unzip the Romecraft14.zip file. To do this, you will need WinRar or something similar. Inside the .zip, you will find a folder titled Romecraft 14. This is your resource pack folder, which must go in the resource pack folder in your Minecraft. You can add this pack by pressing the "open resource pack" button in the lower left of your Resource Pack window in-game.

ROMECRAFT started as a personal texture pack for me and my friend H07HawK, just after Minecraft Beta was released in 2011, to better suit our little city we affectionately named "ROAM." It was an ancient roman city, with only roman themes - of course made for fun. After building a 1:1 Pantheon, I decided it needed to be spiced up with some new textures, and so I decided to start to learn how to use paint.net to texture the game. The first version, called "RomanCraft," had little detail and was overall miserably done. Soon after, I got sick of the ugly armor in Default, and made some subpar 16x16 Roman skins. Eventually, as my skills grew, I began to replace more and more textures, and learned to properly shade. I researched Roman building techniques nonstop, learning all about the architecture of Ancient Rome as I went. I focused mainly on a time period between 200BCE and 150CE, being my favorite time period of Rome.

1.8 Version of Romecraft is released.

New features include:
- Spears now held like spears!
- Golden tools held like flags and banners!
- Banners held like banners!
- Many new 1.8 textures!

P.S. - Some 1.8 textures are still default. I hope to someday replace them, but have little time for textures these days!

Update #43 - Pre15 released! : 02/23/2014 2:37:08 pm2/23/14

A prerelease of Romecraft 15 is now out! Romecraft 15 itself will come out for MC1.8

New features (that I can remember):

-Enhanced armor?
-Enhanced blocks (conversion to 32x32)

Update #42 : 12/04/2013 8:26:23 pm12/04/13

With the introduction of resource pack stacking in 1.7, I decided to make Romecraft a bit more customizable! On downloading this pack, you now have the option of downloading addons that further customize your Romecraft experience! I will be adding ROMA and AEGYPTVS to a list of "Romecraft Themes," which allows you to change your theme at will and save me some extra time in updates!

Armor packs are a new theme too, with the ability to download future armor packs if you don't like the current ones. You can also use the Armor Packs in different texture packs!

Hurrah for resource pack stacking! It make sense now!

Update #41 - 1.7.2 : 10/30/2013 8:07:32 pm10/30/13

Updated to Minecraft 1.7.2!

This version (14.5) is a major update to all items. The items have been switched to original 32x32 textures, though some may change to be less "vanilla".
+ New tinted glass textures are now "roman" varieties of grates and thick, cast windows.
+ Wood textures for the 2 new trees, though they may change in the future.
+ All flowers should be done!
+ Many block tweaks to new and old textures!

I also plan on changing all block textures, over time, to 32x32 with a 16x16 theme. I don't plan on straying too far from the original game! In the future, expect even better items (less vanilla) and more detailed blocks.

Update #40 - RC14 for MC1.6! : 07/02/2013 11:09:47 am7/02/13

Update #28 - 11.5! : 10/25/2012 9:27:50 pm10/25/12

11.5 Is Released!

In 11.5, I decided to release a few new, updated textures as well as a basic patch for MC1.4. Since this is only a basic patch for 1.4, many textures are default that were added in the new minecraft update! Romecraft 12 will include all updated textures!

Update #27 : 08/22/2012 6:03:54 pm8/22/12

Romecraft 11.1 Is released.

-Bug fixes on 1.3 items and others.
- Optifine extended textures support

Update #26 : 08/05/2012 9:57:16 pm8/05/12

Romecraft 11 is released!

This release features basic MC 1.3 support. I mean basic because I did not bother editing certain blocks from the original look of 1.3, such as emeralds. I did create a new emerald block, but it is not finished!

This is due to how busy I am in real life! Expect a patch someday.

Update #25 : 06/09/2012 6:32:54 pm6/09/12

400 diamonds! Hurray! Thanks for all the support guys!

There should be some good updates to come, including improved paintings and a Scroll GUI for MC1.3!

Update #24 : 06/02/2012 9:44:23 am6/02/12

Released 10.5! Originally, I was planning on Minecraft 1.3 coming out to motivate me to finish Romecraft 11, but that hasn't happened yet, so I have updated again to include the new textures included in Romecraft 11. However, since the 1.3 features are incomplete and paintings are still unedited, this will be deemed 10.5.

- Edited some textures
- Edited Zombies/Irongolems
- Edited some other things

Update #23 : 04/11/2012 5:27:23 pm4/11/12

Version 10.1 released!

-Released new, extended tools and weapons - plus revamped gold weapons (To be legionnary standards!). I meant to include these in version 10, but forgot to do them!

Update #22 : 04/04/2012 9:19:37 pm4/04/12

Romecraft 10 is out!

In this edition, I have totally revamped armor and made it possibly 3x cooler (and a bit more dirty looking, in my opinion)!

I also improved on paintings and some blocks, as well as finished villagers.

Update #21 : 03/22/2012 5:57:42 pm3/22/12

Version 9.8 is out!

I did not fully finish what I wanted by 10.0 though, so expect some more texture tweaking and painting-finishing by then. This is just a midway pack so you guys can use it for 1.2.4 without bugs :) (Unless if I missed some textures..)

Update #20 : 03/01/2012 2:30:02 pm3/01/12

Romecraft 9.5 is out!

-9.5 is a beta version, as I am not done with redoing the 1.2 textures nor the painting revamp I was in the middle of. 10.0 will fix all of these, hopefully!

Ave Emperor, I have a suggestion, I have seen a lot of people complaining to get the old textures back, you could make an item pack just like the armor packs so they can play Romecraft on the way they love it most.

Hey mate, great texture pack really love it! I'm using it to build a big version of Ancient Rome...! Anywho, during my building I found there was a few things I needed, so I made a few textures myself on the colored clay blocks since I wasn't really using them. It's mostly additional patterns for tiles and decoration, but I also made a marble brick on the Red wood planks (so that it also has half slap and stair) and I've made a red painted column, since the Romans often colored an entire column red or half of it :) If you'd like to see these texture's I've made I'd gladly send them. I'm not too experienced with texturing but think I've done an okay job at it :)

Hey. I'm really digging this texture pack and consider myself an ancient history buff. I'm a huge fan of Roman history and architecture, which is why I love this texture pack so much. There are a few things that don't make a whole lot of sense, but it's supposed to be Romanized, so I'm not going to complain. The reason I'm making this comment is not to give you props, which you absolutely deserve, but I'm here to wonder if you have a Latin language pack. Seeing as I'm using this pack, I figured I should switch to a Latin pack.

I sort of prefer the old item designs, particularly the tools, as now it's hard to tell from a quick glance what kind of equipment people have, and they're a bit less Minecrafty.

It was a tough call, as many people wanted improved tools without the diamond tips and etc, and others wanted them the same. To keep it kind of "historical", I decided to make the tools a bit plainer. Hard to please everyone it seems!

I love this texture pack but I have a few suggestions to make it even more Roman. First, since the chain mail armor isn't craftable in survival, I think it could be changed to a senators toga (purple fringes or just a regular one). Second, I think that the "Stone Spear" that takes the place of the stone sword should be called a "Pila" as it was in ancient Rome. And third, STAY AWESOME.
I am currently making a Roman themed server and was hoping to use this pack as the server texture. We are not very far in the building process because we are waiting for a Rome map. If you wouldn't mind coming to my server and taking a look, just comment with a reply with your IGN somewhere and I will post the IP. May this texture do well as the Fates decree.

The "Pila" was (i think) the throwing spear of the Roman Legions (we can't throw them in Minecraft), And the Chainmail is used on many PvP servers so better keep it as an armor.

This is an awesome texture pack! When I think of minecraft I don't usually think Rome, but you have made it fit perfectly. It's weird that I had to take it out of the zip file though, because I have some other resource packs that are in zip files. I'm glad it worked anyway.

hey i've noticed that the skin that comes with the game keeps turning into some black/blue ghost thing that's on fire. how do i get it to stop doing that?

Well that's definitely a first. The only thing I could think of is that you didn't run MCpatcher. But I'm almost positive that it wouldn't have anything to with the skins, and even then you can run this texture pack without MCpatcher. Sorry man, that's all I know personally, and I've been using this texture pack for around two years now...

Remove the folder from the zip file. I don't know why you have to do that, but you do.

so i've used almost every version of this texture pack but i can't get minecraft to register version 14? it's in the resource pack folder but in-game i don't see it anywhere. never had this happen before.

It's the new launcher, reads Resource Packs differently than normal. Remove the file from the .Zip and place it inside the Resource Pack folder. Then it should work just fine.
