There must be something wrong if this bill is opposed by both left-wingers and right-wingers.

What is really at stake here, as far as matters pertain to the RIAA/MPAA, etc. It's not about piracy, as most of the people I've met have been led to believe.

Hollywood is losing out to the Silicon Valley. The big internet gents have figured out a way to profit by studying PEOPLE. This is what the big Facebook "scandal" was about: Facebook was selling information to market research companies to make money. This is how modern commerce more or less works. You study what people want.

The Hollywood gang is threatened by this, and have every reason to be, because they will be put out of business (kind of, as far as I understand). Their way of profit is becoming obsolete, so they are spending incredible amounts of money lobbying for this bill to pass. They want the market centered on products, not people. This is why Myspace failed. This is why Facebook is blooming. This is why Google is blooming, and owns 66% of the US market.

It is really about who controls the information. Haven't we learned this lesson already?

I hope this puts things into perspective. It's not about piracy. It's about the freedom and flow of information between free people.

I will fully advocate a PMC blackout.
