Chains rattled as Daniel stretched his arms as much as he could, He had not expected to find this much resistance inside of the citadel and as such they were not prepared for battle.
"You are unbelievable Leo, I mean any good leader would have made sure they knew how large the enemy force was before attacking." Rhys angrily said.
Daniel and Rhys were part of a adventurer team that had been sent on a quest for a nearby kingdom, it was meant to be very simple and easy yet they had somehow ended up going on a lot longer than anticipated.
Daniel replied saying that he had thought they would be able to sneak in via an untraveled route and only face a small number of enemies, but yes he had underestimated the sheer size of the force.
They could not continue their argument as footsteps approached the door to their cell, the door opened and a group of soldiers walked in, they took down Daniel and grabbed Rhys and led them out of the cell and through a number of corridors. What the soldiers were ordered to do they did not know not did they really want to know.
Five months earlier.
The sound of laughter and the chatter of people filled the tavern as people drank, ate and sang. The waitresses went from table to table taking orders and delivering food. One group of patrons was sat in a far corner alone, they were different from the rest as they had weapons leaning against their table and had a few scrolls and maps on the table with a few going over them.
"Come one tell us where we are going next Shane?" Daniel asked the one looking over the maps, a few moments of silence passed before Shane replied.
"The answer to that is Lonius then Faraz, they have a few jobs that need doing. Not very large ones but I have already taken them for us." Shane replied.
Daniel sighed, Shane felt the need to do every little quest rather than just the large ones with the best rewards but he was the leader and the one who took the most punishment on the front line while Daniel was a necromancer and stayed at the back casting spells and assisting the others. The others were; Rhys the knight with his two handed blade, while slow he dealt great damage and Will the warrior, dual wielding swords he was faster than Rhys and dealt a good amount of damage as well.
Will was over at the bar ordering drinks and food for their group, Rhys was off talking to a few people that he had found a common interest with.
Daniel and Shane had stayed at their table to plan the route and di not feel the need to talk to anyone.
"So we have more small quests, when are we going to get some big ones, a dungeon, raid, boss, even a large group of bandits and I would be happy!" Daniel exclaimed. Shane replied saying that if Daniel had not gone off without the rest of the group at the last city then they would have more jobs to do besides the little ones and that he needed to work with the group a lot more. At this comment Daniel decided to stay quite although the quest he was looking for was right under his nose. William returned with their drinks and food, Daniel called Rhys back over and the meal began.
"We have a fEw small quests not far from here and then we will need to head back the adventurer's guild to find some more." Shane said while they ate.
"Dude that's all the way at Karasana, 10 days away if we are quick!" William exclaimed.
"Also depending on who is leading the way, seeing as even though he is a mage Daniel seems to lead us around the place while Shane is our team leader." Rhys added in.

"Anyway see ya guys in the morning I am heading out for a bit." Daniel announced.
"You best not do anything without us again like last city." Shane sternly warned him, Daniel did not reply and headed out of the inn and into the dark city.
