We were all packed into the car. The sweaty, overheated, tightly-packed car. It was exactly like all of our other annual camping trips, in that we had packed for our camp on Thursday night, underwear, socks, shirts, and all. On Friday night we all packed ourselves into the car and drove off. We were off, from Wichita, Kansas, and we would be in Estes Park on Saturday. We drove all night, passing through the plains of Kansas. The boring, empty plains of Kansas.

We passed through Denver, staring in awe at the huge skyscrapers, sizes we see every year, but that still seemed huge. We drove down I-25, each of us taking turns sharing scary stories.
"The young couple strolled on the Hawaiian beach at sunset, returning to their hut at dark. In love, the couple kissed, embracing the seducing landscape, when Josh felt an ice cold breath on his back. He pushed Aria away, and turned behind him. His eyes widened, his last breath escaped his lungs, as he saw..." My little sister Ashlyn said in as deep of a voice that a 7 year old girl could muster. "THE TIKI GOD!!" She yelled.
Everyone in the car screamed, then laughed, and told Ashlyn her story was great.
"Mom, why don't you tell a scary story?" I said.
"Oh, sweetie, I don't know, I've got work on my mind. Besides, I'm not good at these stories anyway." She replied.
"C'mon, mom!" Ashlyn said.
"Oh, alright. There once lived a girl named Anna, a hard working insurance agent who lived in Kansas City. She walked into her job one day, the desks empty, and the lights off. It was silent. Then, out of nowhere, HER BOSS JUMPED OUT FORCING HER TO HAVE 2 HOUR OVERTIME!!!" My mom screamed.
It was silent, until my father said "Honey, that was about as scary as being chased by 15 butterflies through a field of daisies."
Ashlyn and I laughed, seeing my mom's face turn red through the rear-view mirror.
"FINE. YOU TELL A BETTER STORY!!!" She yelled at my father.
"Okay then." Dad mumbled. "It was a day like any other, farmers plowing the fields, everyone doing their things. One lone family roamed the highway, driving along the edge of the Rocky Mountains driving to their camping destination. When the arrived at the campsite, a small, frail old main with a toothless smile grinned as the family's Suburban pulled into the campsite. The family set up their tent at sunset, and quickly fell asleep, as they were bushed from the long trip there. In the middle of the night, the youngest child awoke to a rustling in the tent. What the little 7 year old found was..." We all were biting our nails as my father built up suspense... "A WEREWOLF!!!"
We all screamed. Then laughed.
"That story isn't true, is it dad?" Ashlyn said, half laughing, half-kinda-freaking-out.
"Oh, of course not, sweetie!" My dad replied.

RETURN FOR PART TWO TOMORROW... (I'll update it.)
