One of the few features on Planet Minecraft that I don't use is the chat. I find games with built in chat fine, but for some reason plain online chatrooms get me nervous for many reasons.
Reason 1: Awkward Silence
There's nothing worse than saying something and not getting a reaction, especially in chat. Upon joining a chatroom, I say "Hi," or "Hello." Then, it's followed by an awkward silence. This usually leads me to leaving after waiting one to three minutes for someone to respond.
Person 1: Don't worry, it's fine! It's not a big deal!
Person 2: It looks horrible though!
Person 1: Stop feeling down about yourself, if they don't like it, then they don't like it. What's the issue?
Person 3: Yeah, stop caring about what others think!
Person 2: Thanks guys, you're the best :)
Me: Hi ._.
Reason 2: Current Conversations
Conversing
is something humans have done since the beginning of time, and
chatrooms are no exception. I often join a chat and witness a
conversation that I know literally NOTHING about. It's even worse when
you THINK they're talking about a subject you're familiar with, so you
try to put in your two cents, and then realize it's about something
totally different.
Person 1: Dude, you were totally hacking, I saw you flying.
Person 2: Hacker!
Person 3: I wasn't fly hacking! I just hacked to get more gems!
Person 2: So you were hacking -_-
Person 1: I bet that's how you got a legend rank
Person 2: You should've been banned
Person 1: I'm gonna report you!
Me: That wont work, Mineplex doesn't really read the reports anyway.
(Long pause)
Person 2: What's Mineplex?
Reason 3: Role Playing
I've never been a huge fan of chat roleplays, or roleplaying in general, which really sucks because a ton of my friends on Minecraft are really into that sort of thing. Joining a chat in the middle of a roleplay is really awkward.
Person 1: *Jumpscares Chica*
Person 2: *Attacks Bonnie"
Person 3: <Freddy> Guys! The guard is here!
Person 2: *Stands in place*
Me: What's a Chica.
Reason 4: Empty Rooms
A lot of times I'll join a chat, and have nobody in it. Usually, I'd just leave, but once something weird happened.
Me: (Joins)
Me: (Waits for a minute)
Person 1: (Joins)
Me: Hi
Person 1: What were you doing in chat by yourself?
