I have been griefed my fair share. And may have griefed my fair share. But that was before I was ever griefed.
The Pain of being griefed on a server when you are doing well. Or have a huge build and someone breaks it, is huge. I have only raided one or two houses that had pretty much been griefed. I just took bones and wood that was left.
I may or may not have griefed a server. It was funny. But then i couldn't sleep the next night because of guilt. The owner was like 8. I felt like a *****. SO that is when i stopped. I am here to debate wether griefing is purely just fun and games, or if it is really just bullying.

OH OF COURSE IT IS OK!
This is in a pint of veiw of a griefer who thinks it is ok.
It is just a game. There are a lot a games built for raiding. ANd since minecraft has no rules why can't this be one. That is basically my point. I don't really have anything to back it up with except that the victims are just babies.

NO THIS IS NOT OK
Is Griefing OK? No. It is bullying. This is what I personally believe. Griefers are just noobs who can't get items for themselves. On faction/raid servers it is fine, that is what they are for. Griefing a server is the worst. Trust me. When I griefed one I only did minimal damage but it still made the owner cry.

I think that killing somone randomly is fine. Sure that pisses you off but it is prt of the game. Griefing is not. Swords,PVP machanics are in the game. Griefing tools, are not.

Ask your self this. Is This What Notch Would Want for Minecraft. A evil community? A bunch of griefers? NO

I miss the old days of MC. No one griefed, the community was nice, you could build and play with someone you didn't know with out them griefing you. Now that is all minecraft is. Mean players, mean community, mean builds for heavens sake.

I know that there are a lot of nice minecrafters. I have met many. But the evil still outweighs them.

ZexyZex's Trolling series.
I Have watched some. I noticed that a lot of it is with friends and is playful. I have seen one video, not sure if it was Zex but they were trolling a server because the admins were trolling them. In that case i can see it justified.

Leave a Diamond  For The Hopes Of The Old Multiplayer days.  Someday minecraft will be what is was again!

I agree with this post. Back in 1.5.2 (May 2013-June 2013) the game seemed more peaceful. Well now there are griefers. It is getting annoying when people grief... but I don't get griefed. Tips to not getting griefed: Do not make your house close to spawn or other houses. Make it faraway... so no one can find your house and raid/grief. Also... make the enterance far from the house. In a server, I made the enterance to my house underground. If this helps, thanks.

Okay, greifing on survival, I find that legit. Because it provides more of a challenge where you have to make your base either un-griefable or make it far away, and you need to find stuff. I wouldn't say it's a normal thing, it's not.. not mean or anything, but it's fine. Creative on the other hand, no. That would be bullying, as you said. Someone spent their hard time making this structure of some sort, weather or not it be "nooby" or totally amazing, and you spend YOUR time destroying, defacing, and totally wrecking it, that's not okay. Also, with CanadianR said, on almost EVERY SINGLE SERVER I'VE BEEN TO (wich is over 100, I've had the game since alpha 1.5), whenever there's a girl player, every single male on the server swarms to her and asks her to be her virtual girlfriend. kthxbai, going to kill myself because IT'S A FUCKING GAME.

Yup, I hated that too. Infact once a girl on that server was getting sexually harrassed by a few guys who did that constantly to her. Which they did not do it when a mod or admin was on, so they could not get caught.(I did not have a forums account so I could not report). So one day I stood up to then for her. Which she was happy that I did that. But they asked "Why are you doing that" so she whispered to me "Play along" then said "Oh he is my real bf" I played along and they were about to shut up until someone said "Wait prove it! Mc marry her now!" Guess, what we did that to shut them up. Which she is still a good friend to me today. Yeah we are not "really dating" nor are we "in love" but a friendship grew from it and it is fun to mess with people when they try to pull that on her. :3

I recently got mod on a server and I have seen some griefing and I am not for it. Sometimes, if you just do a little practical joke on a friend that can be fixed easily that is alright. Infact, until I got on my current server, where I managed to find some great friends, I left a lot of the time from servers because before I could even get a base or anything started, someone decides to "welcome me" by griefing my stuff, then saying harsh and rude statements. In fact, border-line rudeness and harrassment is just as big of an issue. Example, name calling, making fun of where someone, saying sexual things to girl players etc. Whenever I see that, I usually try to stop it, even when I was not mod. I feel as though we as part of the Minecraft community should try to do our part to stop griefing, trolling, rude statements and things like that. We can't get rid of it all, but even if we remove some it will make more people enjoy this great game.

For me it depends a little on the server. If you have a survival that is oriented PVE and freebuild then you should trade with people. If you have an PVP server you should be aware that thiefes have their eyes on you even 3 secs after you spawned, not to mention the high level murderers. ^^

It's okay if they deserve it.

They usually do.

Totolly agree as i said. If it is justified it's fine. Like say someone griefed you. I would go way farther than needed.
