Hello everyone,
I am writing my second blog post today on how to use the TNT cannon when in any Minecraft war. TNT cannons are the best offense for most wars that you will have on a mine craft PVP server and I will be going over every aspect of one. Be sure to be on the lookout for more posts of mine, I will post videos on how to build various cannons when I get the software running. Anyways, here are my thoughts.

What is a TNT cannon?
A TNT cannon is the process by which a player can shoot TNT in any direction. TNT cannons work because TNT in Minecraft has two states. One state, is normal TNT. This is a solid block which will work as any other block. Although it is unwise, you could build a base out of TNT and the structure would not change unless an outside force was applied to it. The second state of TNT, is affected by minecraft physics. In other words, It will fall as it is affected by gravity, it is not technically a block so water or lava can run through it and blocks can be placed in the space it occupies via a piston or dropping sand or gravel on top of it, and it is launched by explosions. Unlike sand, TNT does NOT have to be falling to be launched by explosions. The second state of TNT that is affected by physics can be reached by a redstone current, any blast near by(TNT has a blast resistance of 0), flint and steel, a flaming arrow shot from a flame 1 bow, a ghosts fireball, lava, or anything else that involves a flame. TNT cannons are great because once you activate your TNT, it can be launched anywhere by any other explosion.

How to Utilize TNT's Unique properties
As stated before, the unique properties that are contained by TNT can be taken advantage of in many ways, specifically to build a cannon. To do so, one must use redstone to time two separate parts of a TNT cannon. Upon searching TNT cannon on youtube, you will find countless guides on how to build an operate a TNT cannon. Contrary to popular belief, TNT cannons can be extremely easy to use and operate which is why they are so great for war!

When to Use a TNT Cannon as offense
When on the offensive, a TNT cannon should be used to break base walls, destroy chests, destroy property, and occasionally kill or injure enemy players. TNT cannons are considered the most destructive tool that is usable in minecraft so one should never use a TNT cannon on an enemy they can not defeat unless they are doing so secretly. TNT cannons are not always precise, and when using one to steal enemies possessions, fire at a slow rate so you do not blow up the items that are dropped. Keep in mind that if you wish to, you can use a creeper to blow up enemies bases a lot more easily. Creepers are great because one can lead them around and let them blow up by an enemies chest, door, or base. Be sure you have proper armor when doing so or the creeper will kill you.

How to Use a TNT Cannon in War
When using a TNT cannon, it is best to set up several different ones at a time. I usually will set up three to four tnt cannons and link them all to one redstone button. That way, it is much more difficult for enemies to repair their walls if there are several holes. When attacking, dispensers are great because with them you can fire faster then if you have to reload the cannon. A simple way to adjust cannons with dispensers it to not place TNT in some of the dispensers so you can adjust for your range. Remember, you can't break anvils, ender chests, or obsidian with TNT. One way to get around anvils is since anvils have two states of being like TNT, you can shoot the block under the anvil which will cause it to fall and eventually break. A faster way to destroy an anvil is with a compound cannon that shoots two shots within a tick of each other. The first shot will drop the anvil and the second will break the anvil as it is falling. When using TNT cannons, aim for enemies chests, doors, or any open spots.

How to Beat Regenerating Walls
If they are using regenerating walls, Aim for the corners or consider shooting right in front of the wall repeatedly. A great way to beat enemy regenerating walls is to take out their redstone components, which are found a few blocks under the wall, aim there. The corners on regenerating walls are weak points as it is impossible to build a wall that covers 360 degrees of the base, as I mentioned, shoot the corners. Regenerating walls are a great defense, but a fallible one. I would recommend making several TNT cannons in one spot and shooting as much TNT at the wall as possible. Later, I will post a video on how to build a cannon that fires over two thousand TNT a minute which can liquify any defense.

How to Beat Water Walls
Destroying an enemy water or lava wall is quite the task. The TNT can't blow up inside the water or lava, else it will not break the wall behind it. I recommend using a sand cannon for these types. A sand cannon works on the idea that if you fire TNT and it blows up inside sand or gravel, it is not affected by the water. I will make a video tutorial later on how to build an operate a sand cannon to destroy enemy water walls. Until I post my video, your best bet with these walls is to swim up and over them. Although that is easy with water, for lava you will need to drink a potion of fire resistance first.

How to Beat Obsidian. Unfortunately, There is no great way to beat Obsidian. Obsidian has a blast resistance of six thousand, which is higher then the blast power of any conceivable TNT attack. You can, however, find a few tricks that MIGHT work. Try to shoot enemies doors, trapdoors, or whatever method they have of getting into the base. Try tunneling under and seeing if their floor is obsidian or not. If their roof isn't obsidian, go through the roof. If they did not fill the corners of their base with obsidian, By that I mean if the blocks that connect the sides are touching diagonally, put a TNT right on that corner and it can blow through the corner and take out any chests on the inside. Some servers will make obsidian destructible from large blasts of TNT, later I will post a video on how to build a cannon that shoots SIXTEEN TNT at once which will take out any obsidian if your server allows it. My rapid fire TNT cannon works great for this as well.

How to Beat Underground Bases
Underground bases are a pain to destroy with TNT. Pretty much, you have to build a cannon and shoot it at the same spot over and over until you break a tunnel down to their base. This takes time and a lot of TNT. Once you do reach the base, however, Aim for doors and roofs then go to chests, furnaces, hoppers, and any other containers.

How to Beat Sky Bases
Sky bases are also a pain to beat. You will have to build up to the level of the base, then build a platform that a cannon can be made on. Build a big platform so you can stand far enough from the cannon so the blast does not knock you off the platform. Now, you have several targets. Aim for the roofs of the sky base and blow a hole through the top. If you aim for the sides or bottom, You will have to time your blasts perfectly so the TNT blows up right as it comes into contact with the base. I will make a video guide that shows you how to perfectly manipulate timing so you can blow up any base.

How to Beat Enemy Resistance
Generally, people will not be OK with you firing large volleys of TNT at them. You will have to protect yourself from defenders. The best way to do this, is to build a wall around yourself and your cannon. I would break your attack squad into four groups. Put your smartest and best engineers on cannons. They should build several cannons to fire at the enemies base, but more importantly cannons to shoot an enemy cannon that is trying to shoot your cannon. If you can destroy enemy counter cannons, yours will be safe to fire. Your Second group should be your best fighter and a few other average fighters. They should stay with your cannons and engineers and protect anyone who charges out at you. They should also all hold bows and fire upon anyone they see in the enemies base. Your third group, should be your raiders. These should be trusted men who can tell you when to stop and start firing, as well as where to fire. They should be able to accurately report to you what they received from broken chests without stealing and what they think is in other chests. These men should be your second, third fourth.... best fighters who can fight off enemy defenders in the base. They should have the best gear and potions. Your fourth group, should be very small, it can contain you or anyone who's willing to be a scout. This group should contain your battle commander who can give orders and men who go into the enemies base undetected invisible with harming and negative effect potions. A good bow is also useful in their hands. These men should be the real collectors of the goods from enemy chests. The enemy shouldn't know they exist so they won't have a target to attack to get their stuff back. They should do the majority of the reporting on what chests to fire upon and what they received as well a menacing enemies with potions. I will make a video guide later on how to quickly adjust your TNT cannons to shoot at different coordinates.

How to Adjust Your TNT Cannons Trajectory Pattern
Your TNT can rest on several blocks before firing. I did some research, and your cannon will fire farthest if it fires at a thirty degree angle. That is the only piece of data that I did not find myself. The rest of data in this report was found by a lot of testing. I am sure that you could get better data by analyzing Minecrafts code, but this is all I have. I will call the block that TNT sits on the resting block.
No Resting Block: Your cannon has no resting block if the TNT sits on a normal block. The type of block does not matter. This is any block that is one meter high and has no special qualities to it. Your TNT will fire out straight and not elevate itself at all. This provides for short range but is good if you are firing from an elevated position. Also, although your TNT will not go that far, it will have the fastest velocity along the X-Axis, so it will move foreword faster than any other resting block.
Trap Door: Trap doors have two states, open and closed. I did not test with the open state. When your trap door is closed, however, it is great. It has a pretty flat trajectory with little movement along the Y-Axis but more then a normal blocks will. It will not work well for close targets. If firing at a wall, keep in mind that in most cases the Trapdoor Resting block will get TNT to the target very fast so it is hard to hit the middle of a wall with a trap door. Also, make sure that your redstone does not activate the trapdoor.
Slab or half block: A slab is great for TNT cannons. It is average for both lobbed shots and straight shots but is not the best for either. The slab will absorb some of the firing TNT's power so it won't maximize your shot. Overall, surprisingly average.
Ladders: Ladders are great because they absorb none of the TNT's firing power. Two ladders will give a perfect lob shot and one will give a nice straighter shot. When using ladders, keep in mind they move slower along the X-Axis then most so they are good if shooting a sky base or the middle of a wall as the timing is much easier to work with.
Trapdoors: Trapdoors are great because they hold the TNT up one block, but don't absorb any of the power. Keep in mind the have to positions, open and closed, this is only the closed position. When using trapdoors, make sure your redstone does not open your trapdoor. They work well for maximum velocity along the X-Axis and can shoot really far in a flat trajectory
Fence: Fences are one of the most common. Contrary to popular belief, a pressure plate will actually make a fence cannon shoot less far. Fences can shoot a TNT farther than any other block and have a nice lob pattern. The pressure plate makes them lob a bit more but not go as far.

Miscellaneous TNT notes
I have a few fun facts about TNT that I'm going to throw in. TNT shoots farthest if you are shooting it west, so I recommend firing in this direction if a far shot is needed. One cool thing you can do with your cannons is have your TNT shoot through lava so it is on fire when hitting your enemies. Also, when using TNT beware that an enemy can activate the TNT you intend to launch early with a flame arrow or flint and steel. This can be disastrous as it will just blow up the half front of your cannon. Dispensers stop this behavior.

Thats about it guys. Sorry that I had to make all my videos later, I'm still working on my software issues, let me know if you have any tips! Hope you found this helpful and interesting!
