Hello and welcome to How to make a Minecraft Home Server!
THIS IS FOR MACS!!!!
YOU MUST HAVE TEXT EDIT!!!
YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO PORTFOWARD!!!

STEP 1:
Go onto minecraft.net/download Download minecraft_server.1.7.4.jar
STEP 2:
Make a folder and name it "Minecraft Server" (The name doesn't matter it can be anything)!
STEP 3:
Put the minecraft_server.1.7.4.jar into the folder!
STEP 4:
Double click the minecraft_server.1.7.4.jar (It should open a bunch of files and run a weird thing that loads up to 100%)!
STEP 5:
One of the files it opens is titled "Server.Properties" open that and check all the properties and change them as you like, keep the server IP blank!
STEP 6:
Go to your settings/go to network/go to tcip/ and look at your IP then portfoward it (I am sorry you will have to figure out how to portfoward it yourself).
STEP 7:
*After you have portfowarded it* Go on the server with the IP and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

BANNED-PLAYERS.TXT:
ENTER THE IGN OF THE PLAYERS THAT YOU WANT BANNED
WHITE-LIST.TXT
ENTER YOUR USERNAME AND IN THE GAME YOU CAN CHANGE IT BY /whitelist off WHITELIST YOUR FRIENDS TOO!
