Hello and welcome again to another How to Pronounce. Since she has recently hit half of 100 subscribers on PMC, I've decided to show you how to pronounce Spongie's name.

The first part is quite easy. The S is pronounced like the R in rain, the P like the O in home, and the O like the S in sad. The N is silent, and so are the 2 G's (if you're British, the G's (but not the N) are instead pronounced by blinking your eyes audibly.)

The second part is where the challenge is. First, the E is pronounced like the NG in long. The A is pronounced like the B in boy, but breathier (or the BH sound in Hindi). The R is pronounced like the A in pack, and the 1 like the TS in cats. And last but not least, the 5 is pronounced like the rolled R but softer (the RH sound in Welsh, see this video).
