1. Chop down trees

2. Build a crafting table, sticks, wood pickaxe

3. Build a house (small)

4. Get cobblestone make a stone sword, pickaxe, hatchet, shovel, hoe

5. Get food by killing cows, pigs, and chickens or get wheat seeds from tall grass

6. Get coal

7. Make torches

8. Get wool and make a bed

That is roughly how you survive your first day/night in Minecraft!
