Hey guys! Welcome to the third blog in the series!
This time im going to cover the new blocks & items. Now, im not going to cover everything in this post, since the majority of 1.3.1 is the new items, I am going to break it up, so for this post, I will be covering the Emerald, and the Ender chest. So firstly, the emerald. The emerald is a new ore that Mojang has added. It can found in near Diamond level. One very important thing to remember that it can be ONLY found Extreme hills biome or Extreme hills edge biome. The emerald cannot be used for making armor or tools, but has a very different use. The emeralds purpose is to be traded at Testifacate Villages. To trade with testifacates, you right click on them, and the trading menu comes up. you can trade emeralds for things like iron pickaxes or flint and steels. I wont go into details on trading because i will be covering it in a another a blog in the near future. Now another thing emeralds do is make Emerald blocks. Emerald blocks, like Diamond, gold, and Iron blocks, are made with 9 emeralds put into a square formation. Emerald blocks will be a new decorative. Personally, i am very excited for this emerald thing and can wait for it. What this will do to the game is cause a new kind of gold rush in Minecraft, people will head for the hills, or should i say EXTREME HILLS, in search of emeralds to trade with now not-so-useless- testifacates, or make new, beautiful decorations to their houses.
Next up is Ender chests. Ender is like the universal remote of chests. What it does is simple, say you put 9001 diamonds in one (example) and then destroy it. Your diamonds don't come out of the chest. But then you place another one down and BOOM! Your diamonds are in the chest, waiting to be picked up, this movement can be done over and over and over again, and the diamonds would never disappear. Also, say you were to play SMP, if another person opened the chest you placed, they couldn't get your diamonds, only the things they placed inside.
There would be no need for things like lockette, because your chest is aways secure. To craft this is a little/alot expensive. You need 8 obsidian, and one eye of Ender, to craft it, you place all 8 obsidian around the Eye of Ender in the middle. What this will do for Minecraft is add a new way to keep your items secure, and make it easier to move items around.
