Today's post is about the new cocoa beans update, and Trip wires
Starting out, I will talk about the huge cocoa bean update. There is a lot to talk about with this so i will jump right into it. Cocoa beans are being pimped out in 1.3.1, they will have brand new textures (if you use default textures), you can get them now from jungle tree leaves, like apples. And lastly cocoa plants have been added. These plants are found in jungle biomes, attached to 2 by 2 trees. Like wheat, these plants have different statuses of being finished, they look like darkish brown cylinder. when they are finished, when you harvest them, they will drop cocoa beans. It is still unclear how you will efficiently farm these new plants, if can you make a farm out of them at all. In my personal opinion, they are adding to many ways to get the same item. But at the same time I feel
it will add another exciting aspect to the game.
Next up is trip wires. Trip wires will be the newest redstone device. To craft them you need one stick, an iron ingot, and one wood block. The formula is simple, the iron ingot, on top of the stick, on top of a wood plank. When you have crafted it, you get 2 trip wire hooks. Its important to remember that when you have the hooks, more effort is required. You need to place the two hooks anywhere between 2-40 blocks away from each other and have to be facing each other. When you have done that, you place string on one of the hooks, and it automatically connects them with the other. When pulled, it activates any redstone nearby. My opinion is that this is a little over-powered, for example, say your playing SMP, and sombody hides the trip wire perfectly. This means you cannot see the trap at all and instantly die when you walk into it. But this will be very good for things such as adventure maps to trigger parts of the story-line.
