The moon stood high in the sky surrounded by a veil of clouds, miming a ghostly halo. The night sky was a dark shade of blue, yet the shadows the spotlight cast were pitch black. Moonblossoms tentatively opened up their glorious silver petals to the welcome moonlight, making the entire field glimmer a peculiar shade of gray. Lyllith wandered 'round the field, searching for something, though she didn't know what.
A figure appeared, walking towards her. Lyllith felt a surge of sorrow and ran to meet the figure, who was veiled in a soft glow that seemed to come from the moon itself. As she drew closer, Lyllith recognized the figure as a woman with skin as pale as snow, and hair as black as the night. A dress hung on the woman's thin frame, gently billowing in the night breeze and glimmering as if woven from a million petals of moonblossoms. As the woman opened up her long and thin arms, Lyllith crashed into her and hung on in an embrace.
My darling Lyllith... the woman's quite voice rang in Lyllith's ear, musical yet sorrowful. There is much that I wish to tell you, but our time together is short.
Lyllith knew that this beautiful ghost in the night was her mother, who had passed in the past winter. She choked back a sob as her mother pulled her out of their warm embrace and held her shoulders at an arm's length. Lyllith met her mother's eyes, and was surprised that her eyes were peacefully closed.
There is trouble coming. You must not fear. Many will be lost, but even more will be found. I love you.
Her mother's eyes opened, revealing glittering silver irises, yet Lyllith had but a glance before she started falling, the thousands of moonblossoms gently drifting down with her.
