here's my entry to the mindeas contest
when thinking about the new fireworks snapshot, i thought, now we have fireworks, why not keep going with decorations? i think they should add coloured lanterns to make new buildings and colours.
imagine the possibilities! traffic lights, the neon of las vegas, whole new projects could be made, you could make discos that change colour, and redstone clocks and signs that are multicolour! they could give off a slightly coloured light: eg a green lantern would ast a greenish shadow on its surroundings.
if you got 8 different coloured lanterns and put a diamond in the middle on a crafting table you could make a disco ball! it could also be so that certain animals are attracted to certain colour lights!
i think it would greatly improve minecraft, especially servers and redstone maps

Another idea in conjunction with the redstone coloured lanterns would be mirrors, so you could make mirror mazes, see who just opened your door, reflect light, and coloured light for my redstone light idea,
you could make sure there are no creepers behind you, or just check out what your new skin looks like!
