I believe that the Minecraft community has been focusing on the negatives lately with the most recent Minecraft updates.

1.19 added the Allay, which won the 2021 mob vote. Unlike other mob vote winners, the allay actually has a unique use.

The Phantom drops Phantom Membranes, which are used to repair your elytra and make Awkward Potions. There were other ways to do this before, but now you have to not sleep and put yourself in danger for that.

The Glow Squid is only useful for Glow Ink Sacs, which are only used to make glowing signs. However, you can just use torches if you want to make those visible at night.

The Allay, on the other hand, can be used to collect items. Sure, they are hard to find, but they can be used if you, for instance, used TNT to get ores. For those of you who think even the Allay is useless, there are Boats with Chests, which can be used to carry more items when traveling on the water.

However, the update was considered a disappointment because of what was not added. Although Mojang broke their promise when it came to fireflies and birch forests and decided to not add them, those two things can be added using mods/datapacks.

1.19.1 added allay duplication, making it so you can have more allays if you need them. However, the one thing people seem to focus on for this update is player/chat reporting. So much so that they think it is the downfall of Minecraft. Cue many YouTubers talking about how it will "ruin the game" and the #SaveMinecraft hashtag going viral on Twitter. I mentioned this on the Discord server for LemonCloud (a big Minecraft server), and apparently four other updates have been considered by many to be the "downfall of Minecraft".

TL;DR: People are seemingly only focusing on what was not added to 1.19 and on chat reporting instead of allay duplication for 1.19.1.

Anyone else agree with me?

Since you've made a couple of posts expressing similar feelings about the reaction to 1.21, and because I don't see this issue as one that will go away, it seems appropriate to respond here.

Part of the reason for this focus is the natural human tendency to treat as news that which is unexpected or unusual: thus the morning drive-time story will be 'Family dies in tragic fire', not 'Thousands of households sleep soundly through the night'. In Minecraft terms, the addition of what we expect (a new type of X, more varieties of Y) don't elicit much attention.

Another part is the variable [potential] utility of giving voice to one's opinions.
If something I like/want is slated to be added and I do nothing, I get what I want.
In contrast – if something I consider deleterious is planned, it is only by calling attention to the [perceived] problems that I have any chance of getting what I want.

It is also worth considering that the most effective time to offer constructive criticism is when a 'thing' is in developement.
Aside from the MC devs having the usual human disinclination to admit mistakes, this avoids the added expense of having to modify an already paid for feature. [With a fiduciary duty to the shareholders, MS/Mj is understandably interested in not paying twice for a 'thing'.]

Taken together I think these factors may account for a large part of the bias toward discussing disliked features of scheduled (or recently released) updates.

the allay duplication seems to be fine, I mean it adds some use for some items
