ok, so I've recently played a few pvp servers. On one, I made a really nice place at bedrock level, rnI'd blocked the entrance all the way down with stone, nobody could possibly find me, if they did they'd suffer a lava trap, a fake chest, my true chests being hidden behind a random wall... well, I got griefed by someone who didn't even mine down to my place. I can only say they hacked their way in, used xray to find my secret chests (only one attempt at finding them, and completely ignored the fake O.o) they also turned my own lava trap against me and trashed the place for good measure...yes, several days work, down the drain...
I also played on what I can only describe as the place you would go if you want to be ****ed over...I made friends with someone, they backstabbed me literally while my back was turned, and took my place...that server had "factions" installed, nobody would tell me how that works so I couldn't get back at the guy...oh well
Overall, pvp servers are a waste of time, they just don't work...you're better off playing modern warfare, for a much more satisfying game. I'd honestly be having more fun playing checkers.

Many new Pvp servers are the best place to go. You jump on there real early into the server's life, get to know everyone, and you alone will make the server so much better than the Owner had probably predicted.
Unfortunately, the two I played on have died because of no longer having the funds. The one I currently manage has been around since about 1.6, and has recently started up again. Many of the previous players have reappeared and are such a friendly bunch. They all speak English, but most live in the Netherlands, so it's pretty active after about 3pm GMT. Oh sorry for posting this mini essay on your blog, but there is a lot of information =P
