THE FIRE- A life of Steve



    *blink* Where am I? Everything is blurry. Where did everyone go? "Hmm", I hear. Then it all comes back...




    It all started on a sunny day in the middle of summer. Everything was perfect. No mobs. No nether. It was my birthday."Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Stevie, happy birthday to you! I blew out my candle and said, "I wish the whole world was mine!" "Yay!", everyone screamed. I walked over to my best friend, Johnny. "You know your wish is never gonna come true, right?," he said. I sighed. I was known for being the most superstitious kid in school. But I didn't care what he thought. I knew my wish would come true.



    The next day, I went to school. "Today, we are going on a field trip to the obsidian mines". "They will show you how long it takes to mine one piece of obsidian". I groaned. Everybody knew this was the worst field trip of the year. All you did was watch some guy hit a rock for the whole day. "Alright everyone, let's go!" In the bus, I decided I may as well get some sleep, as I had stayed up late last night. It was hard, with Johnny sitting next to me. He was always talkative. But eventually, my mind drifted into a d r  e   a    m...



   Fire. Everything is red. I saw a black skeleton. Orange sticks. A ghost. Red slime. A pink man. "Who are you?" I heard laughter. "Rule the world", said the ghost. Behind them was purple, and swirly. They went into the swirly purple and disappeared. Beep. Beep. Beep. BEEP.


    "BEEP. Wake up, Stevie. We're here!" I groaned. As we filed out of the bus, I thought about the dream. But it was already starting to slip away. I decided it was just your average nightmare. We walked through the halls. "Did you know obsidian can only be mined with a diamond pickaxe?" We all nodded. I don't remember the rest of the day. It was mostly people talking. At the end of the tour, they gave us all obsidian blocks. "Cool!", I yelled. "Here Stevie, you can have mine. After all, it is just a purple block.", said Johnny. "Yeah," said another kid. "Take mine." I ended up with 10 obsidian blocks.



    When I came home, the first thing I noticed was the smell. It smelled like something was burning. Then I saw it. A bright orange flame licked against the walls. "Mom!" I yelled. There was no reply. I tried to leave, but the door was blocked by the red slime from my dreams! "Go ahead. Rule the world", he laughed. I desperately placed down the obsidian blocks to make a barrier. Suddenly, a purple haze appeared inside the obsidian. I looked around one last time. I could see the fire spreading from tree to tree, house to house. Then I took a deep breath and jumped into the purple.



    All these memories. My family. Johnny. All gone. "Hmm." The brown animals are trying to communicate. "I... I have to go.", I say. I run off into the horizon. I do not know what will come, only that I am alone, and it is my fault.




5 YEARS LATER



    I stand here. Alone. I rule the world, except it wasn't exactly what I imagined. I have grown. Forgotten about my past. I am Steve, not Stevie. The mobs fear me. I have decided it was time. I laid down the obsidian and struck a flint. Time to revisit my home.
