The monster was known to locals as the Genian Beast. However, this had only existed in legends. But on this day, a legend had become reality.
The monster had two horns coming downwards towards its mouth, then curving outwards. It had two abnormally small wings, with a multitude of holes in it, supporting it up in the air. In the center of its head was a bulging, yellow, and glowing eye. In it's mouth were hundreds of hideous teeth, each tooth sharp a knife. It's massive hands each had a set of extremely long claws, powerful enough to cut through flesh and bone.
Steve and Jake were in awe of the massive creature as, just a second ago he was a normal man. They pulled out their swords, ready for the battle that ensued. Jake was already attacking, swinging at the beast's head, slashing it across the eyeball. The monster roared in pain. He grabbed Jake and threw him towards the other end of the room. Jake slammed into wall, right above the entrance to the palace.
"Prepare to die you monster!" Screamed Steve.
"HAH HAH! You wish you mortal fool!" Replied the beast in a deep, crackly voice.
Steve was taken aback by the fact that the monster could speak, but did not wait long for his attack. He ran up a part of the wall before jumping onto the monster's neck. The beast reared hoping to throw Steve off, but to no avail. Instead, the beast had broken the wall behind them. This lead to a cliff that dropped off into a deep hole, with no bottom in sight. The sky was not visible, because the cliff was inside of the mountain behind the palace. Steve had an idea. He would attempt to sever his wings, then lure him off of the cliff. He slid down his back to the wings, and attempted to amputate the right wing. The sword bounced off of the tough flesh protecting the beast.
"W...What?" Steve said, confused, "It just... bounces back..."
"This is worse than I could've ever imagined. WHAT HAVE WE GOTTEN INTO?" Said Jake.
"YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE" Screamed the monster
"YOU ALREADY TOLD US!"
Jake began to charge in, ready to aid Steve in this eternal struggle. He swung at the beast's eye once again, causing another large cut to appear on it's glowing yellow eye. It roared and swung itself around wildly. This caused Steve to fly off it's back, into the abyss. He fell, and fell, and fell, until he felt a strange force. He had rotated into a standing positing and was slowly ascending towards the top of the pit. He noticed that his hand was glowing red. He knew what this was. This symbolized the use of magic. But what kind of magic was it?
Back when he was very young, Steve would read about magic every chance he could get. He aspired to become a mage, but obviously, that never happened. When someone uses magic, their hand glows the color of the type of magic they were performing. Red however, was never one of these colors.
Steve reached the top. His eyes began to glow a fiery red, with a a flame-like essence exiting his eye sockets, creating the illusion that his eyes were flaming. Enraged, he used his new-found powers to lift the beast into the air. He froze him in place. Then, he cause a sharp rock to shoot up from the ground, passing straight through the Genian Beast.
Steve fell back to the ground, where he was greeted by a shocked Jake
"What... just happened...?" Asked Jake, as if he was expecting an answer
"No idea..." Replied Steve
"ONE LAST THING BEFORE YOU LEAVE..." Said a familiar voice
