AWESOME!! Sooo it was a couple days ago, I just never really got around to posting x)

My first true Minecraft creation is COMPLETE...well at least one that I built for the sake of pure building :) For anyone who would like to see my plans of my Minecraft world, and how the place looked before, I have made them here: http://i.imgur.com/JngUS.jpg

And HERE is the finished product of the WATERFALL/LAKE I made....:

It definitely took about a day...or at least two half days... adding sleep... (or not!)

ANYWAY, I don't think I finished telling my progress story.

***BUILDING TO COMPLETION***
After researching for a while, I finally came up with one idea I think I heard once. And that was to basically fill any spot in the area deeper than one block, with a dirt block. Then, I would place water over that, so when I removed the dirt blocks, they would flow downward, instead of owning me with the currents. It was quite a several Minecraft days to complete, but I turned out fine on resources, and I didn't use a shovel most of the time. If I did, it might have sped it up, but I was in no hurry :) Here is a screen of my inventory during construction:

Very simple. I did not even need as much dirt blocks as I did. You would be fine filling a lake like that with about half those blocks. It was nice to have as much as I happened to have though, because then I could fill and remove in larger sweeps. Anyway, I don't think I finished my pictures from last time, but I took more while building it! Here is me beginning my filling:

And after filling that particular are, all the water actually (to my surprise) went level immediately.

As you can see, I was working in increments. Mostly just because it was less boring this way, and I could work on details later on.
Removing it was one of the more fun parts!
Block party!:

Anyway, I basically just kept filling the lake like that. In the process, I spent my off-time trying to beautify my backside, which went to a large natural river in my world. I took many views of it trying to see what to do with it. One particular view made me proud of the waterfall I had just made...a wonderful thing to boat home to:

As you can see, I have been at work planting trees in the area! The area actually was completely treeless naturally, so I felt like it would be more natural if I did plant trees on a mountainside with flowing waterfalls.
When I came back to the front, it started raining. I seriously love rain in this game, and I got lost looking in awe at my own creation:

Anyway, I continued working on filling my lake. At this point, I was over the long hump of a halfway point (the middle section). And was now working on the end area. Pouring water was fun, because i got to see it flow to great distances all clobbed together!

I don't know why I have this picture, but why not:

Anyway, I kept filling. After I finished the filling, or sometime during it, I decided that it was really empty on the other side of the top of the falls. It really needed more trees...SO I PLANTED A WHOLE BUNCH!!

*****WHAT'S NEXT?!1*****

After building this, I really wanted to build a house beside it. I couldn't think for a day or two, and stopped playing Minecraft for a day or two, and then I played last night, and posted this today. I didn't want to make a boring wood house. I had brick, and wanted to use it, but couldn't come around to using it until recently. I am starting on a nice brick house, with a treewood roof, and wool on the sides. I'm really liking the design and really excited and can't wait to show you the end product! :) Here's a pic of me being undecisive:

I think I'm beginning to really like brick. I made a clay journey after taking this to end the night, and was frustrated that monsters were somehow able to get into my closed house, but I will save that for another blog :)

Back to more on the Waterfall/Lake I have just shown you. I decided last minute that I want to make a nice, almost fantasy-romantic bridge that goes across it, so I can get to the other side easily. But that will be for another day, until then, my first project is hereby considered...COMPLETE!!!

As always, criticism is welcome to the MAX!!! Will let you know on my next building ventures. Tune in next time for...my brick house!!

Farewell 'till next time,
