More Paintings V.2.0.0
Without any resources pack or mod!

Add more alternative paintings to decorate your world.

From MC 1.20.2 to 1.20.4 (See the Download section for older versions or snapshots)

Features

What does the data pack brings?

  • Add 26 new alternative paintings, for 1x1, 1x2, 2x1, 2x2-blocks formats.
  • These new paintings don't replace the vanilla ones, they are added alongside them.
  • When a player places a painting, it has 50% chance to set a custom one instead of a vanilla one.

How to install & update?

Please refer to the Planet Minecraft tutorial to know how to install a data pack
: How to Install Minecraft Data Packs.

How to uninstall?

You will first need to assure you that there is no remaining custom paintings in your world. To do so, you can run this command in the area you placed some of them. Note that the chunks where the custom paintings are placed need to be loaded for the command to reach them:
/kill @e[tag=pk.mo_pa.painting.component]
Before removing the data pack from your world's "datapacks\" folder, you can run this following command to remove all references (scores, storage...) that were added by the data pack:

/function pk_mo_pa:cmd/uninstall
When it's done, you can safely remove the data pack from your world's "datapacks\" folder, and run /reload. If after that, you discover other custom paintings you didn't remove before uninstalling the data pack, you can still use the first command showed above to remove them.

F.A.Q.

Do I need to install a resources pack?
No, this data pack doesn't involve any resources pack.

The texture of the painting shows regular player heads, how can I fix that?
You need to be connected to the internet the first time you use a new type of custom painting. The textures of the player heads that are used to create their looks are indeed loaded and cached on the client-side, from (old or current) players skins that are stored on a Mojang server.

If you accidentally used a content that required to be online the first time you use it, and now see regular players heads instead of the expected texture, you can still go in the \AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\assets\skins folder, then sort the sub-folders by date, and delete some recent folders. Once that is done, if your game was already started, you will need to restart it to update the cached content.

1 Update Logs

V.2.0.0 - 1 Dec. 2023 : by KawaMood 12/01/2023 11:23:07 amDec 1st, 2023

This major update is a whole re-development of the data pack from scratch.
Due to these changes, the version 2.0.0 is incompatible with older versions (1.X.X) of this same data pack. You will therefore have to remove all previous custom paintings you placed from it, and uninstall it from your server in order to install the new version.

Changes:
  • The data pack doesn't use .dat map files anymore.
  • Thanks to the loss of this constraint, all old custom paintings have been replaced by new ones of higher-quality.

I can't get it to work on 1.20.4. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.

Hi, preferably join the KawaMood Discord server and open in the dedicated #datapacks-issues channel, so we would be able to investigate more directly on your issue. Don't forget to state:
  • If you're using any external tool like Paper/Spigot/Forge/Fabric, and plugins or mods.
  • If you're using any other data pack that can maybe affect the functioning of the concerned data pack.
  • If you have any error in the logs.
  • The whole context of use when the problem occurs, and a way to reproduce it.

It works in my singleplayer, guess it's incompatible with my fabric server somehow.

Hey, great datapack btw, love the paintings. Is this a new update? I was looking for the map files and couldn't find them.

Yes, major versions like V.2, V.3... are upgrades (not updates), so can be considered as fully new data pack.
More Paintings V.2 has been reworked from scratch and thanks to new features like item display entities, it doesn't need to use .dat files anymore.
You just need to install the new data pack and it's fine.
Note that it is not compatible with the V.1.

Just had a quick look at the code, and I have to say amazing.

I'm quite obsolete with datapacks and but all this new stuff of the new versions comes to be very handy.

Hi! Thanks! Yes devs have been spoiling us with some pretty good features for datapacks lately. Macros are a real changer.

Yeah I'm trying to get back on track and there are so many new things it actually feels difficult to update myself

I've seen about macros and I'm probably gonna used them soon.
