I've honestly got no idea what minecraft is going to be like in a year with all these new updates enhancing multiplayer and adding horses and new fish etc. My only expectation is a technical addition to the game, not to similar to technic but in a minecraft manner, with furnaces powering drills etc, anyone else got any expectations?

I'll be hanging back in 1.2.5 for survival related stuff, seeing as the updates are getting more fantasy-like by the minute.
Mapmaking wise, I'm exited, so much command block magic is already in play, I can't wait to see what else they add by 1.8's official release.

Im expecting that soon, instead of joining a server and it asking you to auto-install a resource pack, it will be a mod pack or some form of mods. And they will auto install. Or maybe Im just dreaming
considering all minecraft are doing to their client incorporating bootstrap into it and it asking for certain details from your computer, I wouldn't be too surprised to see that soon!
minecraft will have PENGUINS!!.....
Penguins live in the Arctic.
Penguins = Arctic = New biome!
Penguins = Arctic = New biome!
I'm hoping that instead of a server asking to install a resource pack, it will automatically install temporarily, although it will ask you if you would like not to use it if you have bad connection and if it's too high resolution it won't ask you at all. You can also turn off server textures.
I hope LAN servers port forward themselves so i dont have to buy a server
LAN servers are for you/ people who use your wifi only.
....If you don't understand why you have to port forward, then you probably aren't mature enough/good enough with computers to own a minecraft server.
Also, in a year, Minecraft will probably just have more non-realistic stuff that makes the game too RPG game-y.
And with today's community, where 1-month-old things are considered "old news," Minecraft will probably be one of those games everyone's forgotten about. The community will be restored to the normal state of mostly mature people, as it was before the release of 1.0.0.

Hey I dont own a Server, I am 10, And I know that, Also PMC isn't a place to bullie, It's a friendship place, So get your Ass out of here. (Sorry mod if Ass is a rude word to you)
LAN means its over 1 internet connection. LAN cant port forward itself because its LAN not a server. Also you don't have to buy a server, you just need to download the software and port forward. LAN means Local Area Network AKA it will only work on your internet, LAN isn't a public server, its for your group of computers on your internet only.

TEKKIT. o-o
Hell no. PLEASE NO. ANYTHING but Tekkit or any other mod packs.
It would be nice to implement a friends system so you can host games with friends not on your local network (think Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition style).
If they keep up how they are, not good.
Jeb keeps adding in bad features to quench the thirst of the impatient people who have no patient.
Personally, I'd rather wait a year and have an amazing, well thought out and working update than an update made in a month that is meaningless and riddled with bugs.

Hopefully Mojang will implement a easier way to install mods, Forge doesn't work for me so I can't have mods </3
1) there have been tweets of dinnerbone wanting to add built in mod loader
2) your either installing it wrong or your computer sucks. Sorry if it sounds harsh but yeah

I got really annoyed too when I couldn't install forge... I thought my computer sucked too. When 1.6 came out I started again with renewe effort and as of now I have about 80 mods loaded on my forge

And maybe all the people who are scared of change will go away too.
-snip- please don't swear c:
Im so excited for 1.8! I wonder what it's gonna be. In one year, Minecraft would probably be forgotten, and everyone would have moved onto other games. *DETRUTH,BRO*. Its either that, or a new dimension that makes the game even more popular. And by the way, I say they should ADD Herobrine, instead of fake removing him because he's never even existed, as Herobrine adds a whole new paranormal aspect to the game. And in order to stop him from spawnkilling, they should make him only able to kill outside of a 100-200 block range from your spawn-point.
Or just have him render in at points so it still adds a "creepy" aspect to the game, so it gets you thinking "what did I just see?", Rather than, oh, alright, hes been removed again, fair play.I'm just going to stick with my expectations of mc becoming more industrialized in vanilla :p
Keefuh GFXFUCK SHIT BURN SCHOOL THEY NEED GIANT STRIPPERS
It has already been mentioned that soon mods may be just resource packs and would make them easier to install
MineCraft Alpha was the best version.
Most of these ideas are just wack and are never going to happen. Although I would like to see the automatic mod installation
the modding api :O
Hai dere
There has been tweets about dinnerbone wanting to add a built in modloader api
Dinnerbone says a lot of things, yet he adds the zombie apocalyps, getting hungry quickly etc.
I'm done with that guy.

New and faster ways to get wood on the first day in survival.
Harder to find diamonds to add more challenge to the game.

Im Dying LOOL
Most likely a 3D RPG until someone understands this is not the game they know and love and changes Minecraft back into what its supposed to be, a survival sandbox.
Totally unrelated, but how did you make that OC picture?
It'll have everything but the modding API they said they'd add roughly a year ago.
I actually have a list.
1- Emerald Armor, Weapons, Tools.
2- New dimension?
3- New mobs.
4- New animations for players, mobs, bucketed items( water, lava)
5- NPCs have drops( most likely Emeralds)
6- Computers
7- New potions
8- New ores
9- New tool
And finally, 10- GUNS!

I'd like to clarify, everyone has been saying "Modding API"
Dinnerbone is talking about a Plugin API at this point, he's been clarifying that a lot lately over twitter.

The modding API has supposedly been in the works for far longer than he talked about it IIRC.
Yes, but he hasn't talked about it lately, and has been actively correcting people who have said modding API.
