Not many changes, but, Pony support is in. It's not entirely completed yet, as we're in the process of re-designing the "parts" to be more modular.

I also fixed a few tiny bugs, as well as two MAJOR bugs (paint bucket/color picker were swapping G and B value, as well as a render bug that caused paint bucket to crash).

The new color wheel isn't in this version, but it will be in the next beta.

Just wanted to say that this is extremely useful. This is the only editor I know of that currently shows bottom textures correctly, and while I prefer editing the flat skin file, being able to see the effects on the model helps a ton.
And it works for 1.8. And mobs. And, it does have model editing for people that are into that sort of thing.

If you want to make skins...just get this.

A little update on my earlier comment. I have tried to create skins with the new layer, but when I'm uploading it to minecraft.net, it keeps telling me I have a to high resolution, and simply adds the default coloured template as the new layer instead of the one I created. The same with the program itself, it just doesn't wwant to upload. I really need help to fix this, I have seen others wear new layers.

I can be patient, but do you have any idea on when this will be updated to 1.8? There are plenty of other ways to make skins, but this is by far my favorite and I refuse to use anything other than this.

Paril, one feature that would be extremely useful would be a way to take entire sections of the skin (like taking entire arms or legs) and be able to mirror them on 1.7+ skins

Every time I download this program, extract the files, and then run the program, everything seems to be working just fine. However, after I edit or add new folders, an Application Error pops up and the folders are no longer present when I open the program. The folders still exist in the extracted file folder labelled "Skins," they just don't show up after I actually run MCSkin3D. How can I fix this?

I am able to paint the jacket layer in the program, but the moment i upload it to my account, it automatically changes the outer layer to the template edges, not just in minecraft but in the program as well. Is this a work in progress or am I doing something wrong?

Paril if you see this, I've found the sourcecode on googlecode, and changed the skinurl to skins.minecraft.net, and compiled. But the version is different (1.4.2.254 I compiled) that the latest is 1.4.2.255. 

Though I still have the same issue as before, I have like 17k of skins, it takes a loooong time to load, searching names is laggy (too many skins I know)

I Have an issue... I havent messed around with the files except for extracting, it worked fine for a few weeks and then now it is doing this thing where no image load: i cant see the skin, and any windows i open are captured where the image should be...

Folders created IN MCSkin3D go straight to the directory it's in rather than the skins directory.

Yeah it's a known issue. I find that it happens less if the folder structure is not nested deep (ie, c:\mcskin3d\).

You may get error spam because:
  • Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 dosent support MCSkin 3D
  • You used VMware Workstation

I can't donwload the Dependencies thing, i mean i can download it but it won't install. I've run it as the administrator and everything but it just goes away after I hit 'OK' and doesnt do anything.
Do I really need it, or can i usethe skin editor without downloading the Dependencies thing?

Would be cool if you could "bend" the skin and give it different poses, so you can make a real nice picture of it for PMC.
Also, it'd be the most awesome and 1st superior thing worldwide when it comes to skinning, if you could make an actual render of the skin, using path tracing.

Nova Skin offers something like that, but it's just bad and not user friendly.

I need help. My skin that I made in MCSkin3D that is my standard skin is glitched somehow... The head disappears! When you remove the hat, it reappears! I can't have the head and hat at the same time! And YES, I have toggled head to see if that would fix it, it doesn't. Please help ;~;

You have transparency somewhere on the head. It doesn't like two transparent objects being inside each other.
