Part of a series of 32 locomotives (class S-12) constructed for Southern Pacific in their own Sacramento locomotive shop, No. 1273 rolled out of the shops in 1921 and went straight to work on the Sacramento rail yards where she spent her career. During her 35 years of service, she racked up over 1,500,000 miles, after which she was retired, and donated to Travel Town in 1957.
