ABOUT THIS BUILDING
This is the first building I've uploaded to Planet Minecraft. However, I've actually been building on Minecraft for years. As a Minecraft architect, I mostly focus on modern styles and buildings, such as this one - but I do try other styles. Usually, my contemporary homes are anywhere from 1 to 5+ stories tall (this one is 2 stories tall, like most), and the typical materials I build them out of are stone bricks, glass panes, and other blocks I use as side elements.
However, I quit Minecraft for a while and as a result, I'm mentally stuck in a time where Minecraft had just introduced horses. That means I am not used to things such as the new stone types, new underwater dungeons, new mobs, and even carpets. I built this house using granite and diorite - two contrasting colors of new stone - as well as quartz (which I never really built with except experimentally), sea lanterns, and other new blocks and items so I could not only get a feel for how to use them, but also to try something new.
Granite is a very magnificent material - so it makes sense that this house is also very grand and spacious - the ceilings are much higher than I would usually incorporate. I was also able to use the vibrantly colored acacia wood, a third complement to the two contrasting colors of sandy orange and light gray, as fences and railings.
All of this, I hope, adds up to a stunning first entrance into the Project community at Planet Minecraft. Truly, I hope you enjoy this creation of mine. It has taught me a lot about the new blocks, and I am well on my way to becoming less ignorant of them.
