The Corazziere entered service in 1939.

It supported many Italian convoys, such as in the route between Italy and North Africa.
In 1940 it took part to the battle of Calabria (in Italian "battaglia di Punta Stilo").
In 1941 it took part to the battle of Cape Matapan and to the first battle of the Sirte. After the first battle of the Sirte, the Corazziere collided with the Granatiere, another destroyer of the same class. Both ships had some casualties and lost their bows. Because of the heavy damages, the Corazziere didn't operate until 8th May 1942.
During a transportation of troops, on the 5th February of 1943, the Corazziere collided with a German landing craft, damaging the bow. The destroyer succesfully brought the troops and ammunitions to its destination, and then went to Palermo to be repaired, from the 9th to the 14th of February.

On the 15th of February, 30 minutes after arriving at Naples, it was hit by 2 bombs dropped by the American Ninth Air Force during the bombing of Naples. Both bombs went completely through the hull, and although there were no casualties on the Corazziere, the ship barely managed to stay afloat.
On the 3rd of April the Corazziere arrived in Genoa for reparations, and most of its crew left the ship.

On the evening of the 8th of September 1943, after the Italian Armistice, the remaining crew of the Corazziere decided to scuttle the ship, to prevent the Germans from using it against the allies.
Most of the crew members where later caught by German soldiers and executed. Only 6 men, who left the ship later, managed hide in a tunnel.
The Germans later managed to put the ship afloat again, but the Corazziere never entered service again. The Corazziere was either sunk by an heavy allied bombing of Genoa on the 4th of September 1944 or it was scuttled by the Germans in 1945.

In 1953 the Corazziere was dismantled.
