This is a fairly modest build for my first project submission, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. I like the contrast of dark oak wood with sandstone. I built this in version 1.7.10, because that version allows me to use all the mods I need for building (WorldEdit Wrapper, WorldEdit CUI, VoxelMap), but unfortunately, 1.7.10 doesn't have all the new doors and fences, so the doors are plain oak, and I've used Nether brick fences for the balconies and Nether brick stairs for the roof instead of dark oak fences and stairs.
I probably could have done the main editing in 1.7.10 and then loaded the world in 1.8 to tweak the doors, fences, and stairs, but then I would have had to rebuild the roof block by block, which is a royal pain. I hate building roofs. Just sayin'.
This is great home for an area with a gentle hill, as the back door comes out of the basement. It started out as a build on a friend's server, and the configuration of the plot I chose left the back wall of the basement kind of "sticking out", so I put in a back door down there. Then I decided to make a slightly larger version in a single-player world.
This is also my first attempt at completely "furnishing" a space. Oddly, when I walked through it empty, I thought it was going to be really cramped, but it turned out there was a lot more room for furniture than I'd thought. I've thrown in pretty much everything but the kitchen sink, but of course Minecraft doesn't have kitchen sinks. Unless you use a furniture mod. Which I might have to try out with this build some time.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Thanks to all.
