Hi everyone!
This is a Roman-inspired homestead (what I'm calling it as opposed to a traditional domus) I've been working on recently. Having done a number of traditional domus, I thought I'd try my hand at something a bit less ordinary and somewhat inspired by the drawings of ancient Roman London. The goal was to create a homestead which was functional, had noticeable similarities to a more urban/wealthier domus, and still remained appealing to look at. I hope you agree!
The homestead is composed of three (or four, depending on how you look at it) sections: the living area, the storage area, and the business/sleeping areas. As a whole, the build includes: an office for the paterfamilias (tablinum), outdoor kitchen (culina), dining room (triclinium), formal greeting hall, storage area, two small rooms (cubiculum) for renting, a shop (taberna), two small bedrooms, and a main bedroom for the paterfamilias/wife.
While this is Roman-inspired, it is (quite noticeably) not entirely historically accurate, but hopefully it's looks/feel compensate for that.
