murray's might is a mercenary steampunk warship bristling with cannons from bow to stern, it was built at the the dawn of the steam era, at a time where mechanical power began to replace traditional sources such as sail or oars. its loyalty lays with who ever can offer the best price. the ship is named after a one of my favourite monkey island characters.

KEY FEATURES:
  • large flags that cant be painted with the insignia of which ever contractor pays the most.
  • a huge carved skull armours the front of the ship, as well as masking the water intake that feeds the lava core to generate steam power.
  • battered sails from savage storms and, fiery battles.
  • propeller, and working piston engine room.
  • fully traversable rigging from one end of the ship to the other.
  • other essentials: galley, crew quarters, officer's quarters, cargo holds, captains cabin, crows nest and more.

I can build hulls... but I've never figured out how to make the curves in sails like you did, I always end up making it look too generic. What's your method for organic curves?

forgive me for copy and pasting this answer but i get the exact same question a lot:its a tricky one to answer, obviously its dependent on several factors like ur rigging, scale and its function. i think a good bit of advice i can give you is always think about the direction of the wind and how that will affect not only the sail but the rest of build as well. as for my technique i usually  just start with the outer edges of the sails, adjust till i am happy and then fill back in. however sails are an organic build on there own nearly i dont really ahve a set routine for them.

Beautiful. The hull is uniquely shaped in my opinion, I like how much flatter the front base is than the rear, gives it a very noticeable shape. And of course, your sails are always superb.

cheers man, that versions outdated a fair bit like all the other stuff in my boxel really lol. i just finished up an airship that i think is a much more solid build, even drew up a plan for it before i started it.

iv upgraded to a new computer so that accounts for some of my absence, but i have been about, i spend way more time on vent than i do the server because i tend to build on a superflat map with my own set up of mods, building as a member on server can be a little restricting at times in my opinion.

cheers dude i learned so much from looking at your boat builds and just when i think im gettin it down, u post clare of the faint smile, the curvature of the hull is spot on.


iv got a tugboat to upload some tonight or tomoz, its a little derpy but it kinda makes me laugh. let me know wat ya think.
