Once the son of Sela the Healer, Chickenhound was orphaned during the war between Cluny the Scourge and Redwall Abbey. After angering Cluny and the people of Redwall, Chickenhound fled and hid from both sides, only to be found and horribly disfigured by the serpent Asmodeus. Now he is Slagar the Cruel, bent on ruling a kingdom of his own and taking revenge on Redwall for the "injustices" done on to him.
