How to make color text in /tellraw

I questioned this my self saying "How do I do this?"; it was until I saw SethBling's video for a "Clippy" in Minecraft. I saw the GUI in one of the command blocks and it said {"color":"gray","text":"-"} 

Of course, it didn't say "-" ; it said something else, So I tried it and it works, just replace "gray" with 

These
blackdark_bluedark_greendark_aquadark_reddark_purplegoldgraydark_graybluegreenaquaredlight_purpleyellowwhite

Did you know theres a faster way? its like the § in books. You type \u00a7<colorcode>

Example: /tellraw @p {text:"\u00a75Hi"}
it would be the same as §5Hi or purple text

Yes' using \u00a7x works

As it does with Server MOTD's
