Hello, and I am steve, your survival guide Mentor. Make sure that you do what I say or you will go boom.
You might be thinking, Who is that person?, but I am actaully the first person that you should look to for all of your advice.

On my first day of Minecraft, I did not know how to right click, so, well, that was a problem. But for you it will be diffrent, young one. First, you should chop some wood. Most wood is very common, so you don't need to worry about that. The only diffrence between biomes is the wood, terrain, temples/villages, and sources. There are many types of wood, including oak, birch, jungle, and spruce. If you find a village with a blacksmith, library, and church, you're in luck. The Villagers could help you farm, and, they don't fight back when you hit them, but I don't know why you would do that. Villagers offer many trades when you right-click them.
Back to the basics, You should have at least 16 wood logs. Next, you drag the wood blocks into your crafting square. Then you put the wood into a square, and then shift-click onto the wood planks. You should have a nice stack of 64 or more wooden planks. I know that its soooooo boring to do this, but fill up all four crafting slots with the wood planks. and drag ONE crafting table into your inventory. You then right-click the ground with the crafting table, and right-click the crafting table. Wow! Now there are 6 slots to experiment what you can craft with. But first, use two wooden planks right on top of each other to make four sticks. Then you use three of the four sticks to craft a pickaxe. To craft a pickaxe, put 3 blocks of planks on the top of the crafting table. and make a small line reaching down to the bottom with the sticks. Take the pickaxe into your inventory, and BOOM! You have taken your first step to diamonds.

You need to look for a ditch in the ground filled with gray stone. You must mine the stone with the pickaxe or you will get no stone. If you find stone speckled with black, you have found coal! You must mine it with your pickaxe. Then you put one coal on top of the crafting bench and a stick right under it. Now you have torches, the most essential lighting item in the game. Place a torch at night, and there will be no more zombies around your camp. If you want to be safe, its best to surround yourself with the cobblestone or the wood planks you gathered recently. If you want to sleep at night, go and find the nearest 3 sheep. Kill them by hitting them. :( Then you take the wool and put three wool on top, and three planks under the wool. Now put the wool in your shelter, right-click on it at night, and sleep ahoy!
By now you must be getting hungry. The following list is all the edible foods you can reach so far. Chicken, Mutton, Pork, Apples, Potatoes, Carrots, and cookies(Only in jungles.) You craft a furnace by making a border of cobblestone around the outside of the crafting bench. To cook  all the foods highlighted in red, you must put coal in the bottom slot of the furnace, and the meat in the top slot. Now just wait until the food is done and then eat away!

Now I have taught you all of the basics. The following steps will help you advance.
Tips 101
Stone pickaxe mines iron. Iron pickaxe mines diamonds, gold, and redstone. Diamons Pickaxe mines emeralds, and obsidian.
Armor is leather, iron, gold, and diamond. There is no emerald armor though.

I made a edit so it says steve
