Bad day everyone, we have a problem with Skype right now:
Lets review, on September 29th, someone made a virus. This virus was used to spam the person's Skype to everyone in their contacts like:

" OMG, is this you?! (link with virus in it D: )"

And yes, some may have clicked the link, and got the same thing, spreading the whole entire virus to everyone universally, (yes, even China). But that's not all of the virus. It had an addition of keylogging. Keylogging records what you type and sends it to the man of the virus. So what ever you do, don't login to anything that is important to you.
The man will find out something like your bank account, anything that is worth your life.

Now, I have clicked it. I clicked the link. It sent me a virus. Which I opened .
My PC still isn't cured, but I know how to fix it.

Thank you to yit63 for the summary of the blog:
"Deleting ANY file that appears fishy may result in a program shutdown or malfunction. A virus/keylogger may also replace files that are completely legitimate for Skype and attempt to add in a keylogger. A keylogger may also affect the ENTIRE computer, not just Skype. Installing anti-malware and antivirus is good and you should do a full scan on both programs."

Chapter 2, How to fix the virus:

Most of you are panicking on the virus. Now there is a cure for it:

Step 1: Quit your skype... durr.

Step 2: Go to %appdata%skype

Step 3: Click organize (top of the window)

Step 4:View, under hidden files and folders; click the show hidden files, folders, and drives

Step 5: Delete the 2 shared thingies, and delete them in the recycling bin.

Step 6:Click one of the folders and go back to check if the 2 thingies are back

Step 7: Download Malwarebytes, probably the free one.

Step 8: Full scan, just to make sure that it's permanently gone.

Step 9: Almost done, now go open up Skype for a bit, and go to options and click advanced.

Step 10: Click "Manage other programs accessed to Skype".

Step 11: Delete all the files that are fishy!!! For example, the number "53" or something like that.

Step 12: Quit Skype, and uninstall it, then re-install it on Skype.com

Warn everyone about this! Everyone who is going to have a skype or is using one!
I hope this helped many of you who have had this problem!

(Note to Social Squid Society: Sorry for putting bad quality right now, using other computer since mine has the virus)

I found out something - if you're on mac and looking on this you have nothing to worry about. Since mac's cannot open .exe's then the keylogger cannot access their system.

if it said: file cannot be downloaded when I click the link does that mean I have the virus?
