Introduction
I've decided to write a short blog post to share my opinion about "support" in the PMC community. I want to share my opinion on why supporting someone is important and how you yourself can help support someone. Also I'm going to talk about why I diamond/fav/comment on submissions and of course why I subscribe to people. Why it's important
Firsty, I think supporting someone is just a nice thing to do. Someone has put time and effort into their submission and deserves to be rewarded. If you think their submission is 'good' you should reward the submission with something like a diamond, favourite or even a comment. People have different opinions on what 'good' is, so I'll let you decide on that part. It's the best feeling in the world when you see your work being apprecitated by someone in the community, it makes the person feel like they've acomplished something. If no one would reward anyone the community would just fall apart. So next time you give someone a diamond or anything else, keep in mind you're supporting the community not just that one person.Diamonds
On PlanetMinecraft the rating system consists of diamonds. It's a one way system that allows you to positively rate the submission if you like it, if not you just leave it alone. It's similar to a "thumbs up" button on YouTube, except you can't thumbs down the submission. There a few reason why I may give a certain submission a diamond: if I liked the submission and/or think it's good, if I feel the person has put a lot of effort into it, if I'm subscribed to the person. Some people are a bit stingy with their diamonds. They only give a diamond when the submission either meets their expectation or exceeds it, which I think is wrong.Favourites
For me, favouriting a submission is like subscribing to it. On PlanetMinecraft when you favourite something it goes on your favourites list and everytime it's updated it goes to the top of that list. Favouriting something is useful as you might like that single submission and want to see futher updates, but the rest of the content from that person doesn't really interest you. I also may give a favourite to a submission that is either extremely well made/presented or very creative/original and want to give that person some extra XP for doing a great job.Comments
Comments are great! Especially the constructive ones. In my opinion leaving a comment on a submission is the best thing you can do. I feel like that person has taken some of their time to write a nice/constructive comment. Commenting something rude that doesn't help the person is pointless. When I get comments I try and reply, even if they are just a smiley face emoticon, I still reply to show that I've read the comment and appreciate it.Subscriptions
When subscribing to someone you should like majority of their content. Many people subscribe to someone and never really support them or even look at their content, which I think is wrong. I subscribe to someone to support them because I like what they're producing. On PlanetMinecraft I normally always diamond a submission when the person to whom I'm subscribed to posted a submission. I comment too if there's something that comes to my head. Unless the submission is really bad and for some reason I don't like it, I leave a comment saying what could be improved or why I don't like it. Supporting the people that you've subscribed to is extremely important.Tags |

I trie to comment on most of the projects I give a diamond, but most time I only say something like beautiful or so. I like to give them the extra ep and to get to know each other^^ Constructive critis is hard for me becaue I'm german and most of the words that I'd use there I don't know in english and sometimes I even dont know how to say it in german^^
I kinda see your point, but if I gave diamonds to everything I even sorta like, it would mean diamonds I give aren't worth much. I'm not that famous, but when I give a diamond to somebody, I want them to think "WOW, Patchpen gave me a diamond! He doesn't do that for just any submission!"
I only give favorites to things I want to keep an eye on, and I only give subs to people whose submissions I want to see more of. I would do it as an XP boost for great submissions, but XP isn't worth anything. It's an arbitrary number, and a fancy title that comes with it sometimes.
Comments are something I will hand out freely. I would say more about this, but honestly, comments are more of a situational thing.
Thanks bro!
Nevermind you didn't D:
