No Creeper Grief V.2.0.3
No blocks griefing & Still damage entities
No blocks griefing & Still damage entities
Creepers will still damage entities when they blast, but won't break blocks anymore.
From MC 1.20.2 to 1.20.4 (See the Download section for Snapshots or older versions)
Features
What does the data pack brings?
- Creepers will still damage entities when they blast, but won't break blocks anymore.
- There is two available modes: the Safe mode (default) and the Proper mode. See the "Commands & settings" section for more information.
Commands & settings
Modes
The data pack includes two modes:
- The Safe mode which is the mode enabled by default. This mode will guarantee creepers to not grief blocks, since it detects the explosion itself (detecting an AEC effect). Only constraint is that creepers will emit black particles when they blast.
- The Proper mode, that use creepers behavior rules to predict when they explode, are killed, or just despawn. This mode can be considered safe enough in normal playing condition, it can only fail in very rare contexts (like, people igniting the creeper just before changing dimension). With this mode, the advantage is that creepers won't emit black particles when they blast.
In order to switch modes, you can use this command to enable the Safe mode (already set by default):
/function pk_no_creeper_grief:cmd/settings/modes/safe
Or this one to enable the Proper mode:
/function pk_no_creeper_grief:cmd/settings/modes/proper
How to install & update?
Please refer to the Planet Minecraft tutorial to know how to install a data pack : How to Install Minecraft Data Packs.
How to uninstall?
You can use this command before removing the datapack from your datapacks folder:
/function pk_no_creeper_grief:cmd/uninstall
The uninstall process will:
- Remove potential scores and storage relative to the current data pack.
- Remove common scores and storage relative to all KawaMood data packs, if the uninstall process detects that you don't have any KawaMood data pack installed anymore.

I need to update them all, but I'm currently working on that.
Since I'm migrating my content on Modrinth and it takes time for them to validate them, you can join my Discord server to try beta versions of my data packs for 1.20.5.
Indeed the syntax for effects of AEC and mobs have changed on MC 1.20.2.
This has been fixed in the V.2.0.4 version of the data pack.
- Prevent villagers to work
- Prevent creepers and ghast to deal damage to entities
- Prevent endermen to grief terrain
- Probably other thing you don't want to have
That the whole point of the data pack to avoid such things.
