SWORD EFFECTS
Have you ever wished your iron sword could poison an enemy?
Ever thought it would be cool if you could regain HP by damaging mobs?
Wanted some kind of totem that gave you slow-falling or night vision when
held instead of doing necromancy on you?
Well, you CAN do those things! Using certain commands inside command
blocks and and setting up score boards you can achieve that same effect.
But if you have tried to do this by watching a video and found it difficult to
understand, too time consuming to set up or just didn't like the 3 chunk
radius limit of the command blocks, then here is your solution!
This datapack sets up all the necessary things in order for this to function.
And it doesn't have any limitations of being an in-game block.
Just /give yourself an item with the appropriate nbt tag and you are done!
The instructions of usage are provided as a text document inside the pack
itself. If you want to add custom stuff you can just go inside the pack and
copy paste one of the lines of commands and edit it however you wish.
This datapack can be used in mapmaking to add custom weapons just
remember to credit the maker.
Idk if there are already other datapacks that do this same thing but I just
wanted an easier way to do this and made this datapack to accomplish this
and thought I might as well publish this.

2 Update Logs
Update 2 - Format change to 1.20.5+ : by ShadeAadi 05/04/2024 4:20:10 pmMay 4, 2024 @ 8:20 pm UTC
Format change:
The datapack has been updated to match the new command format for 1.20.5 and above. In other words this datapack will now work for versions 1.20.5 and above as long as the format does not change again. It will not work for versions 1.20.4 and below. Click here for the previous version.
Bug fixes:
No more issues with entity targeting with EffectDealt.
This update took me quit a while because I couldn't understand the new system but after consulting online I fixed the datapack and am now able to understand the new format. Also as a bonus, the previous bug has been fixed.
