This is Wilson 2.0, a downloadable redstone tamagotchi that you can install and take care of on your very own world.

Wilson was a survival redstone project that was first conceptualized by EthosLab years ago. Etho worked on this project for a long time and was eventually able to get a redstone-only version of him going, but unfortunately it still had a few internal problems and Etho had put it on the back-burner. It was this project that actually originally got me interested in redstone and logic as a whole and ever since then, I've wanted to have a Wilson of my very own.

A couple years ago I thought of the idea of making an installable Wilson through structure blocks so that I wouldn't have to constantly rebuild one for every new SMP world we made. It's been a work in progress off and on ever since then, and now it's finally ready to be deployed as a public beta!

While he may be currently feature complete, I'm releasing this as this is a beta due to how balancing and possible changes to certain mechanics might occur in the future, but what better way to test long-term stability and balance then just releasing it to the wild and see what you guys think lol.

Features
:

  • A giant tamagotchi-like friend to take care of in your Minecraft world
  • Wilson has many different needs that have to be met for him to survive and thrive, things like: hunger, health, weight, entertainment, etc.
  • Gain friendship levels with Wilson by interacting with and taking care of him
  • Two minigames to play with Wilson: Simon and Mastermind
  • Currently 25 advancements to achieve
  • Secrets!
Installation:
  1. Download the datapack.
  2. Either copy and paste or drag and drop the downloaded .zip file into your respective world's "datapack" folder.
If you are starting a new world, you can also open the Data Packs page on the world creation menu and simply drag the .zip file directly onto your Minecraft client. Then, just make sure the datapack is under the "Selected" column.
  3. There's a README file included in the datapack's .zip file for further instructions on how to physically install Wilson into your world as well as a few other helpful commands to tweak certain settings. Please read this file and follow the instructions listed there.
  4. Keep in mind that only one Wilson can be installed on a world at any given point, and if you wish to move him in any way then you must fully uninstall him first.
Uninstallation:

If you wish to uninstall Wilson, he first has to be correctly installed with entities or else the following function will not delete Wilson's structure. If you've already installed him (and made sure entities were "On" in the structure block), then all you have to do is simply run the command:

/function wilson:uninstall

This will bring up a confirmation prompt in-game to ensure that you want to uninstall him. Once you click "Uninstall" on this prompt it will delete Wilson's structure, delete all invisible entities and scoreboards associated with him, as well as disable the datapack to prevent scoreboards from repopulating. If you wish to reinstall Wilson after this point, you must re-enable the datapack using the /datapack command.

Version: Beta v1 Hotfix #1 : by w00tyd00d 10/14/2021 7:42:35 pmOct 14th, 2021

  • Fixed a bug that would have prevented the datapack from disabling when uninstalling due to the datapack name changing upon uploading. Replacing the old datapack with the new should fix the problem and not cause any hinderance to any already existing Wilsons.
