I want to learn the basics of making texture packs!

Hello, I am rainbowcreepr, a builder and skin maker with ideas for themes. Last year i returned from being afk from pmc since 2015! I have wanted to create a texture pack for a long time but when i look at tutorials they tend to be vague, old, or confusing to beginners. I have a big project for this year that I want to get done and post before 2021. If you have some experience or have made texture packs for a long time I would love to have a basic idea on what to use and how to put a texture pack together! thanks!
