When will the new name changing update come out?

I hate my username that I chose for minecraft for myself around 4 years ago, and I heard that sometime there will be an update that allows you to change your name. Does anyone know when its coming?

i thought it was gonna be 1.8.1 so I guess 1.8.2 or later maybe 1.9

The name changing feature added in 1.6/1.7 was made to change Mojang account names, not actual Minecraft names, sorry /:

They've began implementing it, but nobody knows when it will come out. Keep an eye out though.

i hate my name too. i made it up like 4 years ago and its embarrassing. they came out with a name changing update in around 1.7.10 but they still wont let you change it....
