Can't boost memory 1.7.4
Did a reinstall had to set up MC profile. Clicked Edit profile, set the memory at the bottom to my usual 4G, Gives me this error: Could not Create Java Virtual Machine A fatal exception has occurred, program will exit. And this:
So I figured that was too much, I just didn't have it. So I tried 3. Same. 2. Same. 1.5. Same. What the Hay is going on? I know I even have 4 Gigs of ram left. Sorry if this isn't worded well, I'm tired...

Then it would be alright, I had the same problem on a 64 bit Java installation. I just had to re-install java, and it was fine.

RageLokiCatKillertoadYou have a 32 bit Java. You can't do more than 1gb. (Which why do you want more than the default? You won't get any more frames, it may lower your frames)UMayBleedKillertoadYou have a 32 bit Java. You can't do more than 1gb. (Which why do you want more than the default? 32 Bit java supports almost up to 4GB of ram.
Because 2^32
Unless you are talking about the launcher itself.
*Facepalm* Thanks... I thought 1 Gig was fine, but ever since i've gone down I've been getting constant lags spikes on my favorite server, and the console keeps saying it's out of memory. But I'll re install Java, thanks!
If you have a 64 bit OS, get the 64 bit Java.

32 bit java won't allow you to allocate more than however much it is (1.2 GB's?)
So yeah, the launcher or whatever.

32 Bit and 64 bit means the power of the 2.
So 32 bit is
2^32 = 4294967296
4294967296 / 1024 = 4194304 Kbit
4194304 / 1024 = 4096 Mbit
4096 / 1024 = 4 Gbit
Hmmm weird, the calculations make no sense, because that is in Bits, not bytes, which should mean java can only allocate 512MB. I am now confused on bits and bytes, unless java allocates in Bits.

my 32xjava can only handle 1gb ram..give it anymore and it breaks

How much RAM do you have to begin with?
