How command blocks work
Hey I want to make a minigame but
I don't know about command blocks in terms of hiding I'm afraid if Place it in a wall with the button on the front or something it won't work
You know like this:
button, random block, command block
would it still reconize the signal or is there another way

It would power the block and that block will power the command block. So yes it will work

It does work, a block powered by redstone button will be charged. anything around it will be activated if its redstone
So...
(button)(Random)(C.block)
Will work.

Type These:
/tp (number) (number) (number)
for teleporting
/toggledownfall
rain and no rain
/add (number)
i think it adds to your time of day.
examples:
/tp 0 0 0
teleports you under bed rock where your left to fall and die.
/add 1200
adds 12 mins to your MC clock/day

No I'm just trying to figure out if it would work if it is underground or behind a wall by one block

It should work. If it doesn't work, try the following
In 1.7.2 or later, If you activate a command block and it doesn't work, right click the command block and look at the previous output section. There is why it didn't work.
If it is blank (or the same as last time you activated it), it did not get activated
