It's okay, Kira. Herobrine was a fictional Minecraft character created by our imaginations. Many people have created videos claiming they found Herobrine in their worlds (leading to ExplodingTNT to make some hilarious videos of it), but sadly they are not real. Even creator Mojang themselves stated in numerous posts (you can even ask them) that Herobrine was never a character in the game. It does not matter what version you run on, but you will never find him.
However, I can supply you with some answers. In certain mods, they have added the NPC Herobrine with some interesting ablities, but I do not think this is the case here. If your world is a default, survival, no cheats world, then the tree probably caught fire due to Lava in a certain radius of said tree, or it could've been struck by lightning. In this case, it is definitely not Herobrine. Any other questions, contact Mojang themselves about Herobrine, or the creators of the mod.

Unless you don't have a Herobrine mod, Herobrine is not real. Minecraft comes alive...hmm...its not known for such behavior. i think you started a forest fire somewhere and it has spread.

Herobrine is not real. i am a minecraft client dev myself and if you look in the "com.entity.mobs" package there is NOTHING even remotely to do with herobrine there

water probably hit stone blocks slipped and crashed to the tree that caused friction then heat then fire

Listen it may be HeroBrine or entity 303 (herobrine is spawning in your world in 1..andless versions).
It may be a friend trolling or a lava pool near or a lightning strike the tree I don't kno.I haven't seen herobrine in my mc world wile I was playing (I am playing form 1.5.4)

Could just be lava or something. idk if there are any fire mobs in that mod or if herobrine is in that mod, but its most likely just something else
