Ever since I got the new launcher, minecraft has began to have progressive performance issues on old maps (to the point of unplayable) and so I decided to remove mods I rarely use, and now the launcher wont even load Minecraft, no errors or nothing, just click the button and nothing happens.

update:
restarting my computer helped but next time it should happen I'll take a look at the other solutions, thanks everyone for the advice :D

how about try the minecraft legacy click minecraft.exe next to If you’re still having issues, you can try an older version of the Minecraft launcher. If given the option, save the file somewhere instead of running it, then double-click the program. This version will require you to have Java installed. here's the link:

Of course make sure anything that is running with Minecraft is up to date as well as MC itself.

Make sure to use the Task Manager to turn off anything that is related to Minecraft running before you try to start another instance of it.
