Stuck with version 1.0.1 at work

I play during downtime at work (shhhhh!) which means I can download & play the early version in offline mode but can't change Firewall settings to allow automatic update before launch.
Any suggestions for getting the latest version despite being unable to receive the auto-update at launch?

No problem. That's how we used to get MC on school computers, until the IT guy found like 50 copies of Minecraft floating around on school laptops.

Why not just put the newest update on a flash drive and bring that in with you?
