I don't know if what you found is a time machine. If it is, it's running on an unknown frequency, because SETI didn't pick anything up.
The best thing to do in a situation like this is to write down the positions/settings of whatever controls are on the device. If its current settings consistently move you away from Earth, there's a good chance a similar pattern will get you moving back toward it.

That smoke will suffocate you in that small space. Try to cut off the fuel source.
