Can and how can I use Python for programming?

I want to learn how to program and one of my friends told me I should look into Python to use. He said it would be good. Can I use it for modding?

Python is a very good place to start if you're looking into getting into web development and a little bit of modding. Its basic but leads into a lot of the things you need.

It teaches the basic syntax like. if, ifelse, else, for, do. Stuff like that. So if you want to learn the basics first I would recommend Python. But it can't mod minecraft. (Thats Java)

You can use it to mod some games (ex. FTL). If you are asking if you can mod minecraft with it; no, you can't. As for the question in the title I can't answer that question because I've been told it's a language you don't have to compile so I don't know how it really works. Personally, I would recommend starting with java. You'll be able to mod Minecraft, it's a good starting language, it's not too hard, and it's not too easy. However, if you wish to get a LOT done with programming I would suggest starting with C then learning C++ and/or C# after you've gotten the hang of it. If you have any other questions just ask.
